About the Author

Tolu’ A. Akinyemi hails from Nigeria and lives in the UK where he has been endorsed by the Arts Council England as a writer with “exceptional talent”. Tolu is the author of seven outstanding books, one of which is a collection of ‘short essays’ encouraging you to “Unravel Your Hidden Gems”. The five other books form the basis of his poetry collection, ripe for future growth, and which includes Dead Lions Don’t Roar, Dead Dogs Don’t Bark, Dead Cats Don’t Meow, Never Play Games with the Devil and his latest release, A Booktiful Love. He has also authored a widely acclaimed stellar collection of Short stories titled “Inferno of Silence”.

A former headline act at Great Northern Slam, Crossing The Tyne Festival, Feltonbury Arts and Music Festival, and featured in various Poetry Festivals, Open Slam, Poetry Slam, Spoken Word and Open Mic events in and outside the United Kingdom. His books are based on a deep reality and often reflect relationships, life and features people he has met in his journey as a writer. Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

With this particular project, the largest challenge was deciding on the point of view and structure for the novel. I must have written the opening of The Fall of Polite a half dozen times before finally cracking it. Now it’s impossible to imagine the story being told any other way.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?

I make soundtracks for most of my projects that I listen to while writing. The Fall of Polite’s soundtrack consisted mainly of music from Gustavo Santaolalla, Tom Waits, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, and oddly enough Dave Porter’s OTS from Breaking Bad. Weirdly fitting for the post-apocalypse.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

Getting good feedback is extremely important. With screenplays, I have a group of other writers who I share my work with. When it comes to prose, I share my writing with a small circle whose feedback I trust will be honest.

What book are you reading now?

I’m currently reading And the Ass Saw the Angel by Nick Cave. Before that, I had just finished up Wraiths of the Broken Land by S. Craig Zahler, and up next on my shelf is probably Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian, or I might jump into the next volume of Clive Barker’s Books of Blood.

How did you start your writing career?

I started out as a screenwriter for film and television for a number of years before making the leap into prose. Now I continue to practice both writing disciplines and I find that my experience in each form enhances my writing in the other. My prose has a cinematic flair that most readers greatly enjoy.

Tell us about your next release.

The Fall of Polite is my debut novel and my largest project to date. I have a couple of novel projects in the works alongside a couple of in-progress screenplays and a whole bunch of finished screenplays ready to be shot. I’m always releasing video essays and other short-form video content online and anyone interested in that sort of thing can follow along at youtube.com/brickwallpictures

About the Author

Sam Kench is a 23-year-old writer and independent filmmaker. His screenplays and short films have been awarded by festivals and competitions around the world. In 2014 he was named one of the top defenders of free speech by the National Coalition Against Censorship. He grew up in New England and spent years exploring many of the locations that found their way into the novel. He now resides in Los Angeles. ‘The Fall of Polite’ is his debut novel.

Clark developed over 1,000,000 square feet of retail space including not only Shopping Centers, but Apartments, Office buildings and Hotels, exceeding over $100 Million in development. Just some of his clients have included Starbucks, CVS, LA Fitness, HomeGoods, GolfSmith, Chipotle, McDonald’s, Chili’s, Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s and Panera Bread.

Always the entrepreneur, Clark founded/invented “TracFind” - it tracks anything, anytime, anywhere and alerts you instantly worldwide. He was awarded a patent.

He also invented a Faith Coin and gives them out on a regular basis to anyone where he feels a connection and need.

Originally from Louisiana, Clark began his career early, owning a Bar/Restaurant and Limo service at just 19 years old. Clark’s heart is still on the Gulf Coast of Florida where he grew up. Clark loves boating, the beach and anything around water. He loves spending time with his 4 grand kids and his family. Passionate about family, cooking, creating and giving back.

As the project evolves into a clash between science and corporate greed, conflicts escalate. Those contributing the funding are mostly interested in manipulating time travel for profit, and will stop at nothing, including murder, to achieve their goals.

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

I am a “pantser.” I don’t outline. I don’t have index cards taped all over the walls. The story takes me where it takes me. I’ve been to the seminars and read the books that say this is the hardest way to do it, but it’s the only way that works for me. So, the days that I’m not quite sure where we’re going with all this are tough. Somehow, somewhere, I have to find at least 500 words.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?

Right now, John Prine. I’m still mourning the death of the man I consider to be among the most talented songwriters to ever combine words and music.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

I do, and I need to pay more attention to that part of the process.

What book are you reading now?

I’m reading Michael Connelly’s The Fifth Witness and Earth Angel by Raymond Obstfeld.

How did you start your writing career?

I was a newspaper reporter for thirty years. Like most newspaper people, I’d always planned to write a novel one day, but never seemed to get around to it. On my sixtieth birthday, I decided that I would force myself to put at least 500 words a day on paper and see what would happen.

Tell us about your next release.

The second book in the Physics, Lust and Greed series—Wasting Time—will be published Oct. 1. Sometime soon after that I hope to publish my first non-fiction attempt dealing with the 60’s era of folk music. That title will be We Never Knew Just What It Was… the Story of the Mitchell Trio.

About the Author

Mike Murphey is a native of eastern New Mexico and spent almost thirty years as an award-winning newspaper journalist in the Southwest and Pacific Northwest. Following his retirement from the newspaper business, he and his wife Nancy entered in a seventeen-year partnership with the late Dave Henderson, all-star centerfielder for the Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners. Their company produced the A’s and Mariners adult baseball Fantasy Camps. They also have a partnership with the Roy Hobbs adult baseball organization in Fort Myers, Florida. Mike loves fiction, cats, baseball and sailing. He splits his time between Spokane, Washington, and Phoenix, Arizona, where he enjoys life as a writer and old-man baseball player.
