When fifteen-year-old Ciarán Morrigan eavesdrops on a conversation between his father and two mysterious strangers, his life—and the life of his little sister, Remiel—is changed forever. After their father makes a startling decision, the Morrigan siblings are forced to flee the only life they've ever known and embark on a dangerous adventure across the nation of Empirya. With the enlisted help of a disinherited vagabond, a cynical violinist, a fire-juggler with a fierce temper, an aspiring mechanic, and a cheerful librarian, Ciarán and Remiel must fight to escape the clutches of lethal pursuers. Their journey carries them through smog-filled cities, dark forests, humble towns, and perilous mountains, but will Remiel's dark secret and ghosts from the past prevent the Morrigan children from finding a place they can truly call home?

Interview
What is the hardest
part of writing your books?
For me, the toughest part is deciding which parts to keep and what to toss/trim. Sometimes scenes that I think are important end up being discarded because the story evolved in a different direction, or certain portions get scrapped because they seemed to work in outlining/planning, but didn’t work when written out. I also don’t always write in a sequential fashion, so it can get tricky connecting parts and maintaining an appropriate pace. But it’s all part of the fun!

What songs are most
played on your Ipod?
It changes often, but currently, there’s a lot of Bear’s Den, Starset, The Lumineers, Stars, Ruth B, Birdy, Cherry Ghost, Fitz and the Tantrums, and a few movie/video game soundtracks, like Final Fantasy and Game of Thrones.

Do you have critique
partners or beta readers?
I don’t have anyone official, but I’d love to find some. I’ve gotten feedback on previous works through workshopping and using friends as a soundboard for ideas, but I’d like to reach out to other authors/readers in the same genre to expand my network a bit.

How did you start your
writing career?
I’ve always loved writing; I dabbled in fanfiction during my teenage years, then expanded to original content in college. While browsing the internet a couple of years ago, I stumbled across a contest held by Dragon Tree Books that featured a publishing package, so I entered an early draft of I’m With You and ended up winning. I hope to only grow from here!

next release.
I’m experimenting with a possible companion novel to I’m With You, featuring stories told through the POV of the supporting and minor characters. Other than that, I’ve got a YA fantasy series in the works, and many more stories I want to tell!
