Every paramedic’s worst nightmare is to arrive at the scene of a horrific accident and find out that the victim is someone they love. Or, in Caden Ross’s case, the woman he used to love. It took two years to finally get over Dakota and move on with his life, or so Caden believed, until he has to face the thought of a world without her. Nothing could have prepared the handsome, headstrong off-duty paramedic for the emotional upheaval of keeping the woman he once thought would be his forever alive.
Dakota Martineau appeared to have the world in the palm of her hand. She is beautiful, kind, has an adoring family, including her best friend and identical twin sister. She has a passion for incorporating her love of life, family, and her cultural background into her dream job with special needs kids. Then, in a life-altering crash, she discovers just how fragile life is. Thankful to be surrounded by an incredible group of friends who will help heal, not just her body, but also her soul, she knows she should be happy she is alive and on the mend, but Dakota is still tormented by the loss of her one true love.
How can you feel safe with the one person who hurt you the most? What road will Caden and Dakota take when they discover fate wreaked havoc on everything they thought was true?
Interview
1) What is the
hardest part of writing your books?
The hardest part
about writing any book for me is balancing work and the rest of my life. I
become obsessed with writing and it consumes my every thought. Sometimes I can
write for fourteen hours straight. I work six days a week and often many
nights. So many words and so little time.
2) What songs are most played on your Ipod?
When I am writing
a book, I am already thinking of the next book and writing notes as an
inspiration takes me. While I’m thinking about the plot I also think of songs
that relate to my story. By the time, I write my first line of the story I
already have the playlist complied. Every day I write I listen to the playlist.
Midway through sometimes I realize a song no longer applies and I take it out
or I hear one that’s perfect and add it. I add the playlist along with the
pictures of places mentioned in the books and put them on my website,
annemariecitro.com.
3) Do you have critique partners or beta
readers?
Yes, I do. Her
name is Diane Zparkki and she is also a writer. We challenged each other to
write our first books when we discovered we had the same passion. I call her my
writing partner although we write our own books. We send each other every
chapter we write to get feedback. We also share the same office. I’m here six
days a week and she comes in two and half days. She is my saving grace. The
person who lets me freak out and then pulls me off the ledge and dusts me off
and puts my computer back in my lap and gets me typing again.
3) What
book are you reading now?
I wish I could name one but I can’t because
if I’m not writing I’m reading. I read about three books a week. Can you say obsessive-compulsive?
I can name a few that I have loved lately. Love, in English by Karina Halle,
Never Let You Go by Katy Regnery. Six of Hearts by L.H. Cosway Finding Anna
Series by Sherri Hayes. I love anything written by Tillie Cole and Jamie Begley.
4) How
did you start your writing career?
I was a kid that had a severe learning
disabilities and never read a book until I met a teacher in grade ten that
taught me how to read with my disabilities. I became an artist and tried every
outlet available to me except writing. Then I became an education assistant for
teenagers with multiple disabilities. Once my own four children didn’t need me
anymore I had all this time on my hands and decided to take the lessons I had
learned from the students and tried making my dream come true. I give all the
credit to the needs special kids and used their courage and I put myself out
there. I did it, love it, and decided to change careers.
My next release is weeks away from being on
the selves. The book is called Breaking Down My Walls. It is the fourth in a
series about six women that work with special needs kids. Each book is a
standalone story but the characters show up in each other stories. I hope when
you read the books you begin to look at special needs teenagers differently.
They taught me more than anyone else in my life. The main character Taya has a
history that changes how she sees the world and herself. Levi the man that has
loved her forever is forced to take each brick she has to up to protect herself
down. His love is boundless and patient and the only person that can save her
from herself. Book five is two weeks away from being done and going to edits on
the November twenty-six. Remember obsessive-compulsive.
