Demon Storm, Book Two
YA Fantasy
Release Date: 11/13/2022
Publisher: Shadow Spark Publishing
Kari was dead—and then, she wasn’t.
But for the wolf-demon with lightning in her fists, resurrection is no reprieve from exile. After old witch Zina revives her, Kari must conceal her true nature better than ever before, lest her slayers find her breathing and put her down for good. And since she can no longer return to what she once knew, Kari finds herself adrift—in search of purpose.
She gets it when Zina entrusts her with the Lapis Anima, a gem imprisoning the soul of wicked woman, Raven. This brings her into conflict with Raven herself, who’s still very much a threat without her soul… and has devious plans in mind for Kari’s destructive abilities.
Will the wolf-demon succumb to Raven’s cruel temptations?
Or will Kari turn to an unlikely ally for help—the very man who killed her, one year ago?
What is the hardest part of writing
your books?
The hardest part for me when writing is the drafting! Most of my books now are
past that (fortunately), but recently when I wrote the final book of Demon
Storm (Kari’s series) I struggled soooo hard. Especially when you’re working
with a series—there’s so much ground to cover, various dots to connect. You
have to think of the emotion of the setting, it’s all fresh. To be honest, I
question my imagination and creativity the most when it comes to drafting!
What songs are most played on your
Ipod?
Tons of anime song remakes and
originals. Lately Core Pride from Blue Exorcist, Melissa and Rain from FMA (all
sung by Amalee!) are top on my list. These ones, strangely, come together well
to harmonize Book 6!
Do you have critique partners or beta
readers?
A little of both? I have a few close
friends on Twitter, and we all sort of share with each other when we can. It’s
thanks to them that I feel as much confidence with my books as I do!
What book are you reading now?
A lot. A bit outside of my wheelhouse
is Tokyo Ever After, a Japanese version of Princess Diaries. I’m also flipping
through a handful of Kindle books from some indie- and self-pubbed authors!
Dark Dark Heart (Kaitlin Corvus) and Fantastic World (AD Wills) have most of my
attention. I’m also betareading a bit…It’s a busy season over here, lol.
How did you start your writing career?
I think my interest in writing began
with wanting to create characters (a very early Pokemon idea that became more “oh,
no, these people just have stories”). When I was 10, I finished the very first
draft of Kari’s first story.
Tell us about your next release.
So my release right now is Storm &
Shadow, the sequel to Birth of the Storm! It still has a focus on Kari (may be
a little surprising to those who finished Birth), but introduces a much more formidable
foe in Raven, Queen of Shadows~ Raven is easily one of my favorite characters I’ve
ever written, and I am soooo, sososo excited for people to meet her.
