INTERVIEW

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

Remembering all the little details. I was working on edits of a story, and I couldn’t remember something so I went back in the previous book and realized I messed something up. I begged my editor to let me revise a sentence in a locked-in edited book, and she let me, thank goodness.

What are your most played songs?

When I write, I like to play movie soundtracks. That type of music is made to inspire emotions, so I like to use to help me get into a certain mind-set.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

I don’t, actually. I did but she moved away. Writing can be a very solitary career, since we are the only citizen living in the worlds we create. But I miss having a sounding board. I miss being able to bounce ideas off someone.

What book are you reading now?

I’m not reading anything right now. When I’m writing, I don’t like falling down into rabbit holes. I will usually read things I’ve already read so I don’t have to focus or concentrate too hard on new material. I don’t want someone else’s words in my head.

How did you start your writing career?

I’ve always written stuff. When I was a teenager, I loved writing blurbs. I had all these stories in my head, but it wasn’t until I got older that I became disciplined enough to write a full story.

Tell us about your next release.

Book 6 in my Death Riders MC series, titled “Sin”. It comes out July 23rd. As I was planning this book, I thought of a sentence: “if the devout can be sinful, then perhaps sin can be devout”. That one line told me everything about the story and my characters.

About the Author

I began reading my mom’s Harlequin Presents in the fifth grade, and to this day it still boggles my mind that my mother allowed me to read them at age 11! My love for romance was born and from that first book, I knew I wanted to write romance novels. Love is the most powerful emotion we can experience, and I adore happy ever afters.

I write about the very ordinary woman thrust into an extraordinary circumstance, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate high rollers.  I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box. I strive to create characters who are complex and full of flaws. Heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.
