Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
The most difficult aspect of writing my book “Faithfully Fervent” was reliving the emotions I had experienced on my journey all over again. I confidently believed writing this book was what I was called to. Because of this, I knew I had to press on and allow myself to relive those emotions and experiences in order to write from a raw, transparent, and authentic perspective. I believed the greater purpose behind writing this way was so that people could really connect with not only what I was going through, but relate within their own journey as well to find hope, healing, and freedom. While it was very difficult for me at times, I feel as though I did experience an added measure of healing, freedom, and closure in writing this book.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?
My favorite song of all time is “Resurrected” by Elevation Worship, and most recently Elevation Worship’s new song “Graves Into Gardens”

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
When I wrote my book, I had a group of 5 closest friends and mentors read my book. My intent to utilize them in my writing process was to make sure they felt my heart was in the right place in what I wrote. I trusted them to convict me if there were things that may have appeared selfish or could have portrayed in more of a positive light. In writing my book I spent a lot of time in prayer, and desired to write with my heart fixated on the authentic leading from The Lord.

What book are you reading now?
Right now I’m working on studying the Bible (Bible in a Year Plan on the Bible App) with my community group!

How did you start your writing career?
My career and passion has always been with nursing. Becoming a writer actually was not something I ever envisioned for my life or even gave thought of it becoming a possibility. In 2018 I was faced with the most difficult season of my life. While it was excruciating and incredibly trying, this 8 month journey I walked through ended up becoming the greatest redemptive and transformative time. During this journey I journaled every single day. Journals consisted of things The Lord was teaching me, revealing to me, challenging me, convicting me, and healing me. As a result, I felt called to turn my journals into a book so that I could empower others who are, or have been, walking through difficult seasons, trials, or pain. My passion and heart behind my writing is to remind people that there is always hope, and that the ashes that may appear before you will be transformed into beautiful redemption.

I currently do not have a next release in the works, but I have been given the wonderful opportunity to write monthly devotionals for Wheat & Honey Co. In my free time I also love to write blogs on my site faithfullyfervent.com when I feel lead to do so, but there may be more to come someday!

Eating the Forbidden Fruit is a gritty fiction novel loosely based on true events in author Roland Sato Page’s life. The newcomer author delivers a personal journey into his rise and demise as a St. Louis City Police Officer. He takes the readers on a roller coaster ride of good ole family memories to the nightmarish reality of being a police officer indicted on federal drug charges. During his trial, he wrote memoirs as a testimonial of redemption. Roland’s case stems from the conflict of his childhood affiliation and his oath to uphold the law. What is certain is one can't run from sin for karma is much faster.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books? The hardest part was being transparent about all the temptation, infidelities, and sin. Now imagine your spouse proofreading it. Writing a life changing experience wasn’t difficult. It was the freedom of confessing then allowing the redemption to happen. True inner healing. My wife was my inspiration. She understood how sorry I was for my past and how instrumental she was to my salvation. To reveal to the world my past as a St.Louis police officer convicted of federal crimes wasn’t easy. Hearing it it seems dark until you read it discovering the real reason behind my case. I allow the reader into my squad car.

What songs are most played on your Ipod? I love old songs that that me back to my era 60’s,70’s, and 80’s. The entertainment platforms don’t give those classics enough shine so my ipod keeps them archived for my enjoyment. Specially Marvin Gaye, Sade, Grandmaster Flash, and Hall & Oates. There are so many more. True love songs and songs that made you party.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers? No, I am new to this journe. I am learning from gracious professionals or fellow indie authors. Truthfully I don’t consider myself an author as of yet but maybe once I earn that honor I will claim it.

What book are you reading now? My own ironically. I am searching for things I could have improved to make me a better writer.

How did you start your writing career?  It was a matter of maintaining my sanity from depression. I was diagnosed with Lupus 8 years ago since then a few ordeals have taken a toll on my soul. My family encouraged me to pursue a method of distraction. I failed to mention I was a tattoo artist. I had a great career in the body art industry. Lupus brought my profession to a halt. My wife and children supported my choice of direction so I wrote about something I had knowledge of. My life. At the same time I left documentation for my legacy to read about. Generations to come can learn from my past. My novel is deep.

Tell us about your next release. Eating the Forbidden Fruit has just begun it’s journey however I have almost completed my next two projects. “Skin Deep” a real life story on the temptations and drama in the body art industry. You will be surprised by deviate activity and the sins involved dealing with the flesh. Then there’s “Walking the Purple Road” based on my 40 day hospitalization from Lupus. I was in unbearable pain and organs failing. The power of Love delivered me to the road of recovery. Out of those 40 days I can count on one hand the times my wife left my side and that was for maybe a hour or two. True inspirational story.

The first day of school is coming… and I’m going to be in the noisy class. Any class but the noisy class will do!

A young girl is about to enter the third grade, but this year she’s put into Ms. Johnson’s noisy class. Everything about the noisy class is odd. While all the other classes are quiet, Ms. Johnson sings and the kids chatter all day. The door is always closed, yet sounds from it can be heard in the hallway. With summer coming to an end and school starting, the girl realizes that soon she’ll be going to the noisy class. What will school be like now?

Featuring the honest and delightful humor of debut author Angela Shanté and the bold, graphic imagery of debut illustrator Alison Hawkins, The Noisy Classroom encourages those with first-day jitters to reevaluate a scary situation by looking at it from a different angle and to embrace how fun school can be, even in nontraditional ways.

About the Author

Angela Shanté is writer, poet, editor, and educator, with a Masters in Elementary Education and an MFA in Creative Writing. She has taught elementary school for ten years. In her own classroom, she believes in having fun, playing games, moving around, dancing, and enjoying the education experience, even if it occasionally gets loud. Too much to be coincidental.

Were Daniel's dreams and visions almost 3000 years ago talking about today?

Not many pages but crammed full of hair raising comparisons to what the world looks like today.

Contemporary Fiction

Publisher: Birch Treehouse Publishing

Set amid the red rock beauty of Sedona, Arizona, this is the story of a widowed middle-aged newspaper reporter searching for God and herself amid the rubble of her life.

Kathleen Sullivan Buckley writes profiles for a small newspaper about various characters that inhabit the tourist community. Running parallel to her articles is Kathleen’s own story: She is a fallen-away Roman Catholic attempting to deal with her loss of faith; she feels spiritually buffeted by her married lover’s powerful born-again Christian beliefs and the persistent philosophies of the New Age that constantly swirl about Sedona. Meanwhile, her brother-in-law is working his political machinations to get her thrown off her late husband’s will so he can conclude a devious land trade with the U.S. Forest Service.

Sedona: City of Refugees is a biting look at a modern-day American tourist community caught in the throes of change. Sedona—considered by many to be more stunning than some of America’s national parks—draws more than four million tourists a year. But beneath the surface splendor of the scenery, Sedona is torn by deep conflict, with each political and spiritual faction hustling their individual philosophy.

As the novel moves toward its climax, Kathleen uncovers a scheme by her brother-in-law that will adversely affect land near Sedona. In a race against time and the elements to get the story into print, Kathleen comes face to face with a decision she must make about the value of her own life.

About the Author

Growing up on the family farm, Eldon Spady used his teenage imagination to spin stories to his helpers, two foster boys who lived with the family for a number of years. The purpose? To encourage their cooperation in helping with the chores. Some of these stories would last days. As long as the tales continued, his helpers never staged a mutiny.

Since writing four non-fiction books, the Billy Bob Joe Block trilogy, and My Uncle Vellanoff's Journal, Spady has continued using his storytelling talents - this time to expand the fictional history of Obadia, a Biblical character briefly but tantalizingly mention in the Book of Kings.
