When Life Falls to Pieces, Answers Lie in the Space Between

After a month-long dance tour through Italy, 20-year-old Leni Drago returns to Georgia to care for her great-uncle, only to find him gone, the home they shared empty and any evidence he ever existed wiped out. All that’s left is a journal she can’t open.

Jeric Winters has been searching for a piece of his past for over a year, only to reach a dead-end in Georgia. When an urgent and magnetic pull draws him out of his hotel room, he comes face-to-face with the beautiful dancer who’s been haunting his dreams day and night.

Jeric’s one to stay away from—a bad-boy, hit-it-and-quit-it typ —but Leni can’t escape the fervent feelings between them. As their own existences begin to crumble around them and shadowy forms that are more monsters than men attack, they realize there’s more to the connection between them than physical fascination.

The Tale of the Valiant Hero Kenta

By Ezra Jonah Jacobs

Date Published: March 22, 2013

Kenta Takeyama is a 16 year old martial artist who possesses superhuman strength and abilities and the Takeyama -ryuu fighting art. He desires to become the most powerful shogun on the Nikkoujima (Sun Light Islands), as there are much more powerful  men in the world. He lives with his father Tesshin, who trained him in the martial arts, and  his mother Amaya, who is the former princess of a royal family and master fighter; his little  sister Mana, who wants to become a famous play actress and open her own production studio,  as well as his pet bear Kumomori, whom he had since he was 4. Kenta finds that it’s time to follow his dreams of becoming a great and powerful shogun (using his power to protect people  and build more homes and villages, help the poor and starving, rather than just for pomp and  circumstance.

He wants the people to live in peace and prosperity with no fear, as the world is  already entering another age of war. Essentially, he wants to change the country). And so, with his parents’ permission, he decides to travel to Senkyou to enlist in the military and become  a true samurai warrior. He feels confident that the can do so after going through many trials  and travels through his childhood, and training under the  tutelage of his father in his family’s  martial arts styles.

During the first part of the novel, after a little love fiasco with his childhood friend  Yumine who has a crush on him and sparring with some buddies, he travels the lush and vibrant  island and helps many different people out. As Kenta reaches Senkyou, he meets new rivals  and friends, such as Natsumi, a new love interest and Hayate, a mysterious ninja who wants  to raise up his own organization of ninja mercenaries. During basic training, he discovers that  the capital is being attacked by powerful youkai. The powerful beasts appear and disappear in  a flash, even the temple priests are having trouble.

Does the Great Tengu King of the Gogonji mountain territory  know anything about these attacks? Do our heroes stand a chance against  these swift and powerful foes?  What is the reasoning behind all of this carnage?

Note: The genre is apart of the 'wuxia' (martial arts fiction) works of literature. It is a ancient style originating from Tang Period China (5th century AD). The style places great attention to detail during fight scenes (punches, kicks, combinations, throws, etc.) as well as giving attacks exotic names, a convention originating from Chinese martial arts. It may take some getting used to, yet will very quickly become easier to follow as you read. -Ezra

Ezra Jonah Jacobs

Author Bio

Ezra Jonah Jacobs was born in 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised in the suburbs 45 minutes outside of Atlanta by his father and mother, having one older brother. Growing up in a small country town, there was plenty of farmland and open plains to play and run around, a good place to let his young imagination run wild. When not outside, he was usually reading, drawing pictures, or playing video games. He has also had an interest in martial arts since the age of 6, first gaining an interest after watching a Bruce Lee documentary and seeing a movie by the name of Street Fighter. He started emulating the techniques he saw in these movies. It was also around this age he became interested into becoming an author after hearing his teacher read a book to his class. He would be influenced more by other books throughout grade school either by going to the library or during in-school readings.

In Jr. High School, Jacobs developed an interest in many new different mediums, including manga (Japanese comics) and ancient world literature, such as Don Quixote and Beowulf (already having some world literature in his background the form of Gulliver’s Travels and Aesop’s Fables while in Elementary school). He also first came across ancient stories of kung fu masters with enough strength to slay lions, enough speed to out run a cheetah, and being able to lighten their bodies enough to walk on egg shells. He found these stories rather fascinating and would spend time reading them, while at the same time trying to find more.

During his time in high school, world literature reads had expanded. He also began reading more of a genre called Wuxia (martial arts fiction), in particular Jin Yong, and was greatly fascinated by the scope of the stories as well the detailed battle sequences. To him it was as if he were watching a kung fu movie unfold before his very eyes. He thought this genre was rather interesting, especially since it influenced all of his other favorite mediums as well, even theater.

At college, Jacobs finally made the conscious decision to become an author. It was during this time, after class that he would spend time typing up many different stories. Many being one-shots (one long chapter), while others became full length novels. He began trying different genres and styles out until reading Jin Yong’s “A Smiling, Proud Wanderer”. He then decided to give wuxia a try and began working on a novel of such style. He had developed many early versions of his current stories, eventually editing and reforming them into what they are now. He also began reading many other novels around this time, such as Musashi, even more ancient world literature such as Canterbury Tales, The Divine Comedy, and The Faerie Queen, as well as many other things that would later influence his works.

Jacobs graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Major in Literature and a Minor in Arts. He also studied karate while on campus during these years. As he wrote, he always had in mind to create stories that would give his readers the impressions they were almost watching a movie or a TV show, something interesting and exciting yet bearing the allure of a novel. Jacobs currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. When not writing, he is usually reading from his extensive book collection, taking walks in the city, and training.

Tigris Eden:

There is really not much to say... I love to write, read, and listen to music. My attempt at a music career sadly ended at the Apollo one warm night in May! LOL (Side note: I was not booed just outdone by two munchkins rapping to Biggy Smalls but they were good!)

Military brat extraordinaire; have traveled to a lot of interesting places.

The very first time I put pen to paper in story fashion, was in 6th grade. It was called The Case of the Missing Pepperoni.

It was a cute mystery where all the ingredients and shop appliances came to life when the store owner closed up for the evening.

Ty Langston:

As a child, multi-published author Ty Langston loved to read about dragons and knights so
much that one day, her grandmother told her to "just write about them."
So she did.
From that day forward, she never left home without her pen, a notebook, and some kind of
music playing in the background. Her love of reading expanded from fantasy into science fiction,
and eventually into paranormal romance and erotica.
She enjoys different works from George Martin, Anne McCaffrey, Stephen King, and Jackie
Collins. But some of Ty's favorite writers are from the world of TV and film: namely, Tudors
creator Michael Hirst, and the late John Hughes.
Ty has a certificate in Broadcast Journalism along with a degree in Business Administration.
She is single and enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Riley Ross:

To date I haven't published anything yet but I love to write wrestling fan fiction, romance and
light erotica. I will be married for fifteen years this month to my best friend and Prince Charming
all rolled into one. I am mommy to two Syberian Huskies.

Blog Tour: Security by Mandy Baggot

Romantic Suspense
Date Published-  April 4, 2013

Autumn Raine is a pop vocalist at the very top of her game. She’s a style icon, the paparazzi’s darling and everyone wants to be her friend. But when her safety is threatened, her whole life starts to unravel.
Eluding kidnap and trying to stay alive, can Autumn find the strength to be the person she longs to be? And can two people, poles apart, forge something strong enough to survive anything?

My Review:
This is a slid Romantic Suspense Novel. We start with a character who while maybe seems a bit vain, actually is very likable underneath it all. So when her life is threatened and she needs someone to ensure her safety, in comes Nathan. Luckily for her, his training is above and beyond that of typical security guard because things are about to get a lot more terrifying than she thought.

I loved the relationship and buildup between these characters. The plot and mystery was well done and definitely kept me guessing throughout. What really sticks out in this story is how much each and every character seems to leap off the page. Mandy Baggot has really created personalities that keep the readers attention.

Blog Tour: Princess Miri by Cerys du Lys

Erotica/Erotic Romance (Medieval Fantasy-ish)
Date Published: 3/10/13

Princess Miri is a bitch and the heir to the throne and she might have accidentally fallen in love with  a monster.
It's common knowledge that everyone hates Miri, which is why it surprises her when her rival gives her a pet troll servant for her eighteenth birthday. Thump, as Miri names the husky monster, will do everything she asks. Or that's what she thinks.
When her demands lead to experimentation and sexual teasing, Miri realizes this isn't quite the case. One disobeyed order ends with a bang, literally, and her and Thump in an unclothed, carnal mess atop her nowbroken bed.
A troll coupling with a human? Disgusting!
She should be furious! Irate! And maybe she is, but she's curious, too...  She never thought she could open up to anyone before, always believed she needed to act harsh and stern in  order to ascend to the throne. Unfortunately for Miri, while she discreetly explores her taboo sexuality with
Thump, someone's plotting to exploit her shameful secret and ruin the Princess's reputation...
Alluring, erotic, and playful. This provocative story of a Princess and her troll will delight you, entice you,  and keep you excited long after you're done.
This book is intended for mature audiences

My Review
This story goes beyond what I was expecting.

This really did seem to have a Beauty and the Beast type feel to it. Except, the girl wasn't a sweet, innocent maiden, she is a princess with a reputation as a bitch.

So when she is given a pet troll servant, she would never imagine exploring a sexual relationship with said troll. This is where things get a bit odd.

This is really a typical look beyond the surface kind of love. Princess Miri is not exactly a nice girl and the fact that she of all people sees beyond the disgusting outer shell of Thump is really beautiful. I like the fact that it was the other way around. Instead of having the guy who falls for the not so beautiful girl, you have the girl who falls for the disgusting troll.

There is definitely an abundant of sex in this story. You have been warned!

Cerys has charted on numerous best sellers and hot new release lists internationally with multiple books.
She lives in the Greater Boston area in a small town in New Hampshire. She spends her days writing, reading, learning, and working. And maybe sometimes she flirts with the mailman. Some of her most favorite activities involve understanding and learning about emotions and relationships.
She adores pondering sexuality and sensualness. Most of her writing delves into this in some way, exploring reactions and relationships between different people. While she enjoys writing erotica and erotic romance, her goal is to also keep a certain literary appeal to the writing instead of something purely pornographic. Every story she writes has a delightful plot along with the more devious and delicious scenes we all want to read.
She prefers romance settings, with the occasional monster or fairytale. Her secret kinks include reluctance, interesting paranormal creatures, romance(even with monsters), and fun. She loves writing about all of these things, though very strongly acknowledges that fantasies are fiction and nothing more.

Blog Tour: Girls Love Travis Walker by Anne Pfeffer

New Adult Contemporary
Date Published: 3/15/13

To nineteen-year-old high school dropout Travis Walker, women are like snowflakes--
each one different, but beautiful in her own way.
He can charm any girl he meets, and yet down deep he fears he'll always be a loser like
his jailbird father. As the landlady threatens to evict him and his sick mother, Travis
takes a job he hates and spends his evenings picking up girls at a nearby night spot.
When he enlists in a teen program at the local fire station, he finds out he’s amazing at
it. Then he meets the smoking hot Kat Summers, enlists Kat’s friend Zoey to help him
woo her, and falls in love for the first time ever.
But he keeps the details of his life secret. His girl will never love him back if she knows
the truth about him….

My Review:
I am always intrigued by authors who write in the male perspective. It's got to be hard to write the thoughts of a male without letting your female thoughts get in the way. I think Anne Pfeffer has definitely mastered the Male POV.

Travis was a very likable character. From the beginning, even though he was cocky and a bit of a player there was still something about him that drew me in as a reader. Delving deeper into his thoughts and past just adds to the connection you feel for him. He has been faced with a lot of "suck" in his life.

I really liked the relationship between him and Kat. I always love when a player gets hit by the one girl who makes him change his way, but this story goes even deeper than that. There are definite surprises along the way. This is a very emotional story with real life situations and I am very happy to have read it.

Blog Tour: Dead Light by Mike Pace

Horror - Thriller/Suspense
Date Published-  4/4/13

…a matter of light and death…
In the sleepy college town of Cumberton, MD, an old cemetery must be moved to make room for a new dormitory, and an ungodly Light, buried for centuries, escapes. A rash of gruesome student suicides rocks the town. Sheriff Estin Booker teams up with former Baltimore homicide detective Anna Tucci to investigate the deaths. What neither expects is to have all roads point to a 2000-year-old legend which, if true, could lead to the destruction of mankind.
The most frightening account of the power of evil breeching our world since The Exorcist, DEAD LIGHT will teach you the most improbable lesson you will ever learn:

With Jill’s help, and using his previous foothold, it didn’t take long for him to crawl out of the grave. He took a couple of deep breaths and tested his ankle. Still hurt, but not as bad. Definitely just a sprain.
She pointed the light beam at the box. Looked about five inches square and maybe three or four inches high. At one time it probably had been painted red, but now was more the shade of rust. Curious. It was made of wood, yet unlike the casket, had remained intact. He shook the box. Nothing.
Jill took the box and shook it. “Empty.”
“Why would they bury a locked empty box?” he asked.
She aimed the light on the headstone, which lay on its side nearby. The letters were barely legible.
                            Father William Cumber
“The guy they named the town after?” she asked.
“Maybe it’s some religious relic. When we get back, I’ll get a screwdriver and pry it open.”
“What if there’s something valuable inside?” She turned. Momentarily, the flashlight beam moved away from the path. In that instant, Tony tripped again.
They both fell, sending the flashlight flying out of Jill’s hand.
Pain from his ankle shot up Tony’s leg. “Find the flashlight,” he said through clenched teeth. He rolled over onto his stomach and tried his best to get to his knees.
Jill crawled in a short radius, groped around for the light while still holding tight to the box.
“Got it.” She turned on the flashlight, pointing the beam upwards as she slowly rose to her feet.
Tony thought he felt something brush against his skin; probably a moth. And a sweet odor. Familiar, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Must be from opening all the graves after hundreds of years.
From behind them, a deep, gravelly whisper. “Give me the box.”
Jill’s shriek reverberated throughout the entire cemetery. She turned, and the edge of the light beam caught the face of a wild-haired, crazy-eyed old man. She screamed again and dropped the flashlight; the light went out. Though he was as scared as she was, Tony hobbled back to insert himself between Jill and the old man. The man grabbed for the box. Tony flailed out with his right arm, the box flew out of the old man’s hand, smacking into a headstone. The soft wood cracked, splitting the box open along its seams. Instantly, a searing light from inside the box flashed, then disappeared.
Tony thought, how could that be possible? He must've been seeing stars from hitting his head. Frantic, he looked around but the old man had disappeared. Jill knelt in the soil, her face buried in her arms. She must’ve tripped, too. He helped her to her feet.
“You okay?” she asked, then brushed her arm.
“Moths,” he said. “They’re all over the place.”
“Tony, think I saw a flash of light coming from the box.”

Tony glanced down at the broken box. Of course there was no light inside. “From hitting your head when you fell, that’s all.”
“But I didn’t—”
The cough interrupted her. They both froze. He was still there.

Blog Tour: When Summer Comes by Brenda Novak

Contemporary Romance
Date Published: February 2013

One day, Callie Vanetta receives devastating news . . .
She needs a liver transplant. But her doctors warn that, in her case, the chances  of finding a compatible donor aren’t good. Determined to spend whatever time  she has left on her own terms, she keeps the diagnosis to herself and moves out  to her late grandparents’ farm. She’s always wanted to live there. But the farm  hasn’t been worked in years and she begins to fear it’s too much, she’ll have to  return to town.
One night, a stranger comes knocking at her door…
He’s an attractive and mysterious drifter by the name of Levi McCloud who  offers to trade work for a few nights’ shelter. Callie figures she doesn’t have  anything to lose. He needs a place to stay until he can fix his motorcycle; she needs an extra pair of hands. The arrangement seems ideal until what was supposed to be temporary starts to look more and more permanent. Then she realizes she does have something to lose — her heart. And, although he doesn’t yet know it, Levi stands to lose even more.

My Review:
First of all, I have been reading Brenda Novak novels for a while now, so I am very happy to be a part of her Book Tour!

If you've read any of her previous novels, you will be familiar with Callie, she has never been a main part of the story, but always a supporting character, I didn't know how it would be having her as a main character as I never felt like I got much about her, but I really am glad I got to delve into her world. And boy what a heartbreaking one it is.

I loved the journey of emotions we went on with Callie, she has had a crap hand dealt to her and watching her trying to navigate through it was heartbreaking. I often times just wished she would have shared the burden with anyone. I wanted to reach through the book and give her a big hug.

Now for Levi, from the first meeting between him and Callie, you just know its going to be a powerful relationship. It does not let you down. I really loved everything about their journey. Can't wait for more in the Whiskey Creek series.
