Book Blitz: Write A Book That Doesn't Suck by Jaimie Engle @thewriteengle #nonfiction #promo @RABTBookTours

Non-Fiction
Date Published:  Hardcover November 30th

Your Book Might Suck…

But it doesn’t have to.

You are an awesome writer with an incredible fiction story the world needs to experience. But your book… well, it kind of sucks. So let’s fix that.

Setting your novel apart from the rest is a choice.

Fiction is more than a character doing stuff in a place you’ve invented. There are rules to magic and seasons to setting and double meanings to words, and a cadence to sentence structure if you want to write a book that doesn’t suck.

I guarantee you will find tricks and treats you’ve never heard or read before in any other writing book. If not, let me know and I’ll refund your money. But if I’m right, and my book helps you to write a novel that doesn’t suck, then I’m asking you, in return to leave a positive review. That’s fair, isn’t it?

Ready to get started? Great! There are questions with space to answer at the end of each chapter to help you along your journey. I’m super excited for you and wish you all the luck in writing your novel!

A brilliant mathematician and spoiled rich girl, Gretchen, is focused on harnessing Big Data and computing power to control the world stock markets not only to optimize her family’s wealth but also to control the future.

As a descendent of the Nazi Werewolf Clan, is Gretchen being maneuvered into leveraging unlimited computer power along with the ethical nihilism to manipulate lives, or just stretching her genius?

Is Gretchen working alone or is she adding additional computing sources from the Dark Net?

The R-Group, a high-level information gathering and security team, composed of Quip, Otto, Jacob, and Petra along with Julie and Juan’s fledgling group of Cyber Assassin Technology Services teams are trying to isolate the source of the massive computing power required.

Could these cyber schemers be as good at analyzing the information as the R-Group themselves?

Are people unwittingly feeding an ever-growing tsunami of information into increasingly sophisticated computer systems? This begs the question: who controls whom?

Breakfield and Burkey shared their 5th book, The Enigma Stolen, from their award-winning series focused on the relevant world of Big Data and analytics. This one will make you ask who are the winners when humans are herded to a machine's targeted end point?

What Readers are Saying

Kirkus “The covert Werewolf Clan, with ties to Nazis, may be responsible and has been using a computer program to accurately predict stock futures. But it has an even more ambitious plan to link supercomputers around the world and potentially manipulate the future.”

“Wow this series gets better and better with every book I feel. Stakes are high in this one. More people are using the technology to hire assassins to go after high profile people.”

“Yes, I am hooked. I love the way the plot twists and turns throughout the book. As one completes, another arises.”

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

Somedays Breakfield and Burkey find the hardest part of writing is to make a consistently believable character really reach their full potential.  This is especially true with the evil one.  We create several cyber thugs and sometimes it is really difficult to decide how to end them.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?

Queen or Led Zeppelin with a bit of Clapton

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

We actually have several beta readers and a couple of critique partners.  We are always looking for volunteers. If any of your readers are interested, they can enter that request through our website

What book are you reading now?
Burkey is reading Catherine Coulter’s Paradox to keep up with Sherlock and Savage.  Next up is a book she is reading to create a review and place it on Goodreads, Amazon, and her blog RoxBurkey.com.

Charles is working on National Geographic, Fortune Magazine, and some new security training. Maybe he will find some new gems for the next book we are working on, The Enigma Combat.

How did you start your writing career?
In school we each started with writing; school newspaper for Breakfield, and poetry for Burkey.  After we met at the employer, we both worked for, Burkey found a way to write white papers for a technology leader for pay. We did write individually for that venue and did a couple together. The rest is history.

Thank you for asking. The Enigma Beyond, book 11 will be on pre-order in December with release in January of 2020. In The Enigma Beyond, humanity is fighting for living space as the enhanced AI takes control of our politics, our military, and our lives.

We hope your followers will take advance of the Ebook preorder one-time special price of $.99.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
Starting them. And making myself stop what I am doing to take notes when things happen. It’s all the notes I later weave together that make the story work.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?
60’s, 70’s, Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffet, Bhuddha Bar, Café Del Mar, Madeleine Peyroux, Vivaldi

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
No

What book are you reading now?
The Genius of Birds, The Hare With the Amber Eyes

How did you start your writing career?
I’ve always loved to write and have done so since I was child but, as a career, it was somewhat accidental. I wrote BLACK & BLUE because it is a story that needed to be heard. It was such a rewarding experience that I want to continue to write as long as I feel I have a story that needs to be told.

My next book, CHANGING CADENCE, will be a sequel to BLACK & BLUE. It will, like BLACK & BLUE, be based on the true story of the struggles and ultimate victory of the NY Sharks and women’s football both on and off the field—very revealing of our personal stories and the storybook ending of the fabled team that is all true.

In her spare time, she daydreams about being a spy. Her contingency plan involves tying her best of enemies to spinning wheels and quoting James Bond villains until satisfied.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
I usually don’t have a hard time making the words come or planning a novel. However, I think that I drench the pages with too much internal narration, especially in my first drafts. I also have difficulty writing action sequences. I’ll have to study up on that!

What songs are most played on your Ipod?
When I write, I stream the Calm Meditation channel on Pandora, and some of my favorites that pop up are anything by Deuter, Dean Evenson, and Li Xiangting.  I also like Loreena McKennitt and a group called Niyaz.

When I’m not writing, I listen to anything from German industrial, goth, darkwave EDM, and punk, to blues and classical music.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
I do. I’ve networked with some wonderful writers over the past couple of years and appreciate their input. My BFF and close family members also give me honest feedback on my WIPs.

What book are you reading now?
The Secret Wife of Aaron Burr.

How did you start your writing career?
I’ve had ideas for books since I was in high school, but I didn’t start putting stories on paper until a couple of years ago because I was focused on getting my M.A. and Ph.D. When my dissertation was finally done, I took some time to relax and then tried my hand at fiction.

I’m currently writing the sequel to The Moon Hunters. The first draft should be done in a couple of months. I also have a historical fantasy novel that I’ve written. It takes place in 1860s New Orleans and contains flashbacks to the 1840s. The story is about a young woman who communicates with her dead father through his tarot cards. She also works with her spirit friends and Marie Laveau to bring her family justice for the wrongs committed against them. I call this historical fantasy because of the presence of spirits, but the spirits are just as real and vital as the other characters in the novel.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
I was a scientist, not a writer, so I had to learn how to write first. Also, English is not my first language, which made it even more challenging. I was used to researching information, but then I had to transform the somewhat complex information into easily understandable messages.

What songs are most played on your Ipod? none

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
Yes, like-minded friends, former classmates, other moms, and my editors.

What book are you reading now?
Natasha Campbell McBride - Vegetarianism explained

How did you start your writing career?
My children’s book series Kids’ Questions About Life, a trilogy on body, mind, and soul were the result of endless questions posed by my boys. I collected kids’ questions for 2 years and published them with illustrations.

Tell us about your next release.

I am not sure yet. But I did send out a questionnaire to parents asking what they would wish they knew about children’s health before they became parents.

Can innocence ever be an incentive to murder?

A quiet seaside town is thrown into turmoil. Tammy Pierre, London based private investigator, accompanied by her sometime lover, Israeli art dealer and martial-arts coach, Dov Jordan, has just been brought close to tears by police photographs shown to her by an hysterical Eleanor Goldcrest, at the home of three innocent toddlers whose brutally murdered bodies have been found on the beach at Lyme Regis.

Wealthy financier, Eric Goldcrest, alarmed that his partner of three years, together with the local police has him nailed as guilty of murdering the children, now retains Tammy to prove his innocence and find the real culprit. But has his involvement in all this been misinterpreted?

In this investigation, with no apparant motive or forensic evidence, Tammy’s skills will be tested to the limit. In a twist that muddies the waters, Eric Goldcrest, laments that he’s simply never made it clear to Tammy about his position in the family and his relationship with the children, all of which have been assumed by the investigation.

A contract killer changed my life

The encounter inspired me to become a Crime Thriller writer.

He was a contract killer, and he was in my car!

I’d been lost, looking for West Thurrock in Essex, and asked a little old man in a shabby coat, on the opposite side of the road, the way. He offered to show me if I gave him a lift, and whilst I make it a rule never to give lifts to anyone I don’t know, I reasoned, he could hardly be a contract killer, could he. Could he? Of course not.

As we drove he casually informed me that he’d, ‘Done it for the Kray’s, mate.’ That would have been the notorious East London gangsters he was referring to, known to kill, or have killed, without conscience.

Once I’d dropped him off and recovered my composure, I realised I was looking at fodder for a short story. What then followed was a raft of short stories, including, ‘I am a Gigolo,’ something I told my wife when I first met her, and which almost ended our relationship before it had begun. That title is now the heading for a book of short stories.

Jokingly, over lunch, I told a fellow professional I’d once been a contract killer, and devised a story. He believed every word, and left me at some pains to disabuse him. That title, I am a Contract Killer, now heads a further collection of short stories.

Writer of scary short stories and full-length novels like The Lyme Regis Murders.

It’s been an fascinating journey... I hope you’ll want to share with me.
