True Stories of Faith and Hope

Religion Christian Nonfiction

Date Published: August 11, 2026

Publisher: Clay Bridges Press Publishing

The power of prayer is undeniable. The Grace of God repeatedly illustrates how God equipped us to carry His message of love during one of our nation’s darkest times.
Fear had taken root in our hearts. Our ages and health conditions felt like real disadvantages. We found comfort in Christian music, so we shared it with our neighbors. Notecards to healthcare workers and elderly shut-ins were warmly received, so we continued writing them and encouraged others to do the same. Physical nourishment was needed as well, and God provided a way for us to help there too. We prayed over every idea, and in return, God blessed us with inspiration.

We learned that love is an action.
We learned that anyone can be the hands and feet of our Lord.
We witnessed evidence of God’s presence again and again.

Our hope is that these stories encourage you to persistently seek God through prayer. His grace is unending.

Interview

Can you tell us a little about the process of getting this book published? How did you come up with the idea and how did you start?

I never intended to write a book. Initially, I felt a calling to help the people around me who were struggling from the effects of the pandemic. Churches were closed. I found comfort while listening to Christian music and thought sharing that with my neighbors may help them too. So, my journey began there and grew from that simple idea to delivering bagels and praying outside the hospitals for the next two plus years. I began writing to clear my head and heart as we witnessed so much pain and anguish. After sharing a few of my writings with some important people in my life, I was encouraged by them to compile them into a book. It seemed important to share the stories of the healthcare workers and first responders so their tireless work would be remembered. So the process to publish began.

What surprised you most about getting your book published?

What surprised me the most about getting my book published was all of the “work” required after the submission! Having never done this before, I felt pretty overwhelmed by it all.

Tell us a little about what you do when you aren’t writing.

I write when I am moved to do so. There was/is no schedule, no set time or day. I have a very simple life with my wife and dog, trying to make the best of each day God gives me. My physical disabilities limit my activities. I read, scroll om my iPad, watch TV, have phone conversations, work some around the house, pray & meditate.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

I never had and do not have a “writing life.” For this book, the Covid 19 pandemic opened doors of opportunities to serve. The timing and situations surrounding the pandemic challenged me to be available. I have spent most of my life spiritually searching for God’s direction and I felt the need to take action.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

My best and only ideas for this book came from being available to others struggling and suffering during a very dark and frightening time. Again, my lifelong search for a spiritual mission/purpose was right in front of us. We witnessed so much devastation and became close to many on the front lines. Their experiences and stories, coupled with my anguish and confusion, became the springboard for my writing.

What is the toughest criticism given to you as an author?

I was my toughest critic. I doubted my ability to share the stories of others with emotion and without judgment. I became very frustrated at times and asked myself countless times “why am I doing this?”

What has been your best accomplishment as a writer?

My best accomplishment as a writer is taking the opportunity to share the power of God. Providing an avenue of remembrance with the evidence of God’s Hand at work is my proudest accomplishment.

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

I do not have any unpublished or half written books at this time. What I do have is a collection of miscellaneous reflections which may be the basis of another book.

About the Author

Tom Banwart spent most of his life in northern Illinois and graduated summa cum laude from Trinity International University. A promising corporate career was cut short when chronic health issues led him into permanent long-term disability, reshaping both his priorities and his path.

Blessed with creative talents, Tom turned a simple woodburning hobby into a small business and embraced the role of “Mr. Mom” to his three sons, finding purpose and joy in the rhythms of family life.

Though he often sensed a calling to do God’s work, Tom pushed it aside for many years. That changed in 2020. As the pandemic altered daily life and stirred deep questions of faith, he found himself in honest, raw conversations with Christ—dialogues that became a spiritual lifeline. Those reflections and personal experiences evolved into writing, eventually forming the foundation of his first book.

Today, Tom continues to use his creativity and vulnerability to encourage others, sharing stories that point to God’s presence in every season, especially the difficult ones.

Finding Freedom from Body Image Struggles Through Faith, Motherhood, and Surrender

Religion / Christian Living

Date Published: July 28, 2026

Publisher: Lucid Books Publishing

Hello Peace is a faith-filled journey for women navigating body image struggles, identity, and the physical and emotional changes of pregnancy and motherhood. Through a raw and honest personal story, this book invites readers to move from fear, comparison, and control into surrender, renewal, and lasting peace in Christ.

Blending Scripture, reflection, and practical journaling prompts, it equips women to break free from shame, rediscover their worth, and anchor their identity in God—not in appearance or performance.

For any woman who has ever felt at war with her body, this book offers hope, healing, and a reminder that God is not calling her back to who she was—but forward into who she is becoming.

Interview

What was your main drive to write this book?

I was first inspired to write Hello Peace simply as a journal to help me navigate my own peaks and valleys during pregnancy. As someone with a history of an eating disorder and body image struggles, I knew pregnancy and the inevitable changes to my body would bring some challenges. Writing helped me process what I was experiencing, but as I continued, I felt this pull on my heart that the words the Lord was giving me weren't meant only for me. I began to believe that sharing my story could help other women walking through their own struggles with body image, identity, motherhood, and change.

It took some time, and quite a few seasons of putting the manuscript aside as life continued on, but during my second pregnancy, I knew it was finally time to finish what I had started. In many ways, God used those years between my two pregnancies to write parts of the story I didn't even know were missing yet.

What do you hope readers will learn by reading this book?

I hope readers finish Hello Peace carrying three things with them.

First, you are not alone. Whether it's pregnancy, motherhood, sport, injury, illness, aging, or simply living in a body that continues to change, you are not the only woman who struggles to love or accept her body every single day. I hope Hello Peace gives women the courage to bring those struggles into the light, talk about them, and find people who can walk alongside them.

Second, your body was never meant to carry the weight of your identity or your worth. Our bodies are important and worthy of care, but they were never designed to tell us who we are or determine whether we are enough. When our identity becomes rooted in Christ rather than our appearance, our weight, our performance, or the approval of others, it changes the way we are able to view and care for ourselves.

And lastly, healing doesn't mean you never struggle again. I think for a long time I believed healing meant reaching a point where the hard thoughts simply disappeared. What I have learned is that healing is much more continual than that. There may still be difficult days, changing seasons, or old thoughts that resurface. The difference is that we can become so rooted in Truth that we know where to return when they do.

My greatest hope is that women walk away from this book knowing that lasting peace isn't found in finally achieving the "right" body or never having another insecure thought. It is found in continually returning to the Lord and allowing Him to remind us who we are, whose we are, and where our worth has been all along.

Did you do much research when planning this book?

This book came directly from my heart, my faith, and my own experiences, so it didn't require traditional research in the way some books might. It is written in a

memoir-meets-devotional style, with my own story serving as the thread throughout.

I did pay close attention to the structure and flow of devotionals that have personally impacted me, particularly how they invite the reader to move beyond simply reading someone else's words and begin reflecting on their own story. That helped me think intentionally about the reflection questions and journaling prompts throughout Hello Peace. I never wanted readers to simply read my story. I wanted it to create space for them to explore their own.

But at its core, this book was very much written straight from the heart.

Did you have any main people who helped you in the process of this book or influenced you to write it?

My husband and our two children were absolutely my greatest inspiration. I share throughout the book how deeply intertwined all three of them have been with my own healing journey. Motherhood, marriage, and watching our family grow have revealed things in me that I probably never would have recognized otherwise.

I have also been deeply impacted by several athletes I have worked with throughout my career. There have been moments in counseling when faith became part of the conversation and we allowed the Lord into that space, and wow, did He move. Watching women begin to separate their worth from their bodies and their performance has had a profound impact on me as both a dietitian and a writer. Those experiences have also become part of the inspiration behind the next book I'm working on... so stay tuned!

How long did this book take you to write from initial thought to hitting publish?

From the very first journal entry to publication, Hello Peace took about four years to write. A large part of that was because I kept putting it aside as life moved forward.

Looking back, though, I am actually grateful for those pauses. I grew, our family grew, my faith grew, and my understanding of my own healing continued to deepen. There were parts of the final manuscript that I simply couldn't have written when I first started

the book. What once felt like a delay ended up becoming part of what made the story feel complete and full circle.

Do you have plans to write more about this topic or new topics?

Absolutely! I already have another book in the works that will explore faith-centered body image healing, specifically through the lens of athletes. It brings together so many parts of my own story and professional life—my faith, my experience as an athlete, my work as a sports dietitian, and the many conversations I've had with athletes over the years about body image, food, performance, and identity. I'm really excited to see how it continues to take shape and, eventually, to share it with the world.

When Prophecy Replaces Accountability

Religion / Christian Living / Spiritual Growth

Date Published: June 30, 2026

Publisher: Lucid Books Publishing

What happens when someone claims to speak for God—but refuses to answer to anyone?

In today’s platform-driven culture, prophetic voices can gain influence almost overnight. But when charisma grows faster than character and authority operates without accountability, the Church becomes vulnerable to confusion, manipulation, and spiritual harm.

In The Self-Chosen One: When Prophecy Replaces Accountability, pastor Kevin P. Horath addresses this growing challenge. Writing from the perspective of a pastor who deeply values the work of the Holy Spirit, Horath does not reject prophecy. Instead, he calls the Church to restore it to its proper place within humility, character, and biblical oversight.

In this book you will discover:

• How to recognize genuine prophetic ministry versus self-appointed authority
• Why spiritual gifts must function within biblical accountability and church structure
• How social media and platform culture have reshaped spiritual influence
• The dangers of spiritual narcissism and unchecked charisma
• Practical ways pastors and leaders can protect congregations
• How to test prophetic claims without rejecting the Spirit

The Self-Chosen One is a warning and an invitation—helping the Church recover a healthy balance between Spirit and Scripture, passion and discernment.

Interview

Do you have a routine or something you do to get you in the mood to write?

Most of my writing grows out of sermon preparation or personal study. My most recent book began with a real-life situation I was trying to understand. What started as a personal study eventually became the realization that perhaps others could learn from my experience.
Sometimes I am not in the mood to write, but I write anyway. I may not keep everything I write during those sessions, but the act of writing helps get the thoughts moving. Sometimes you have to begin before inspiration decides to show up.

Do you have a special song, drink, or food you enjoy while you are writing?

I drink a lot of coffee. Black. Apparently, my writing process requires equal parts contemplation and caffeine.

How do you know what to write?

Since most of my writing comes from personal study and sermon preparation, it usually begins with a question, a passage of Scripture, or a situation I am trying to understand. If an idea continues to challenge me—or if I believe it could help someone else—I begin exploring whether it might become something more.

What does a typical writing day look like for you?

I don’t think I have a typical writing day. As a pastor, I am involved in many different aspects of ministry, including both a church and a school. Some days I write at the end of the day as a way to unwind. Other days I deliberately carve out time for it. Much depends on the day and what appears on—or unexpectedly interrupts—my calendar.
Do you do anything special to celebrate after writing “the end”?

Actually, finishing sometimes feels like a letdown. I know that may sound a little strange, but it feels like reaching the end of a journey. When it is a project I have truly enjoyed, I can become a little melancholy when it is over. Holding the finished book in my hands is deeply satisfying, but even then, there is often a tinge of sadness that the journey has ended.

How long does it take you to write a book?

It depends on the book. Since several of my books are devotionals developed from sermons, much of the original material had already been written. The challenge was reshaping spoken messages into a cohesive book that worked for a reader rather than a congregation.
My children’s book was literally written in one night—the night before the sermon in which I first shared it. The story changed somewhat before publication, but its essence was written in a single evening.
My most recent book took approximately two and a half months to write. It required considerably more research and also involved a contributing author, so it took longer than some of my previous projects. Even so, I believe it came together relatively quickly.

What is the most difficult part of writing a book?

The most difficult part of the writing itself is finding a way to express an idea or emotion accurately without losing the reader. Determining what is too much, too little, too casual, or too technical can be challenging. Public speaking and writing are very different. When you move from the pulpit to the page, you lose tone of voice, facial expression, timing, and inflection. The challenge is finding ways to communicate humor and emotion in writing without forcing either one.

Virtual Book Tour: Selling God's Way by Michel Hamer #interview #business #christian #nonfiction #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours
11:30 AM0 Comments

Maximize Your Income And Business Relationships

Business / Economics / Christian Living

Date Published: June 16, 2026

Publisher: Lucid Books Publishing

Selling God’s Way is a book that explains how to apply biblical principles to all aspects of professional selling: Prospecting, Questioning, Presenting, Closing, Servicing, and Handling Objections. Filled with biblical scripture and stories, the book presents the best way for any salesperson to maximize their income and business relationships, regardless of religion. Many people all over the world, and throughout all of time, believe that biblical wisdom remains the most valuable forever.

Interview

Can you tell us a little about the process of getting this book published? How did you come up with the idea and how did you start?

I came up with the idea while in a hospital near death from a bacterial infection. I was in desperate financial straits. While lying in a hospital bed I remembered hearing a sermon on the two times in the Bible where God miraculously gave people money. One was in Matthew 17:24- 27; Jesus told Peter to go fishing, which was his occupation, he was a fisherman. Peter found a large silver coin in the mouth of a fish. This coin provided enough money to pay his and Jesus’s taxes.

The other occasion is in 2Kings 4:1-7. Elisha, a prophet and miracle worker, went into the home of a widow who was in a desperate financial situation. A creditor had threaten to take her sons as slaves. Elisha asked her what she had in her home and she replied, “Nothing at all except a flask of olive oil”. Thereafter, Elisha gave her instructions on selling the oil to her neighbors. The widow was able to sell the oil, pay off her debts, and live off what was left over.

So, I asked myself two questions. What is my occupation? Answer: I am a salesperson. And what do I have in my home that my neighbors-community may need? Answer: The word of God (The Bible), and my relationship with Jesus for guidance in any line of work.

So, I decided to write the book “Selling God’s Way”. To prepare myself to write a book that hopefully many would deem as excellent I read two books. 1. “On Writing Well: The Essential Guide to Mastering Nonfiction Writing and Effective Communication” By William Zinsser.

2. The other book was on how to write a book proposal. I cannot remember the author or the exact title.

To get the book published, I sent out over 100 emails. My emails would be query letters or condensed publishing proposals.

What surprised you most about getting your book published?

The amount of time it took to find a forthright competent publisher, who I felt was committed to excellence. That is what surprised me the most.

Tell us a little about what you do when you aren’t writing?

I love spending time with my family, especially my granddaughter. I’m also a huge sports fan. So, I watch a large number of basketball and football games, both college and professional.  I also love to read, primarily non-fiction.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

There were two pivotal points. One was after reading the book titled “On Writing Well: The Essential Guide to Mastering Nonfiction Writing and Effective Communication” By William Zinsser. I learned a significant amount about writing from that book.

The other pivotal point is when I discovered the website “Writer Beware”.  There seems to be an overabundance of scammers and incompetent professionals in the publishing business.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

I get my best ideas from things that burden my heart. If I see people struggling with something that I can relate to, I write to give them a perspective of someone with their same issues and goals, who follows Jesus. I also write to communicate “Good News”. Especially to those who are lost or suffering like I was. The world is filled with people who are suffering and lost. Hopefully, my writing will find their way into the hands of people who could use some good news, those living outside their Promised Land.

Too many people search for ways to attain love, peace, and joy in all wrong places, inadequate people, and false cultural promises. They’re also seeking solutions regarding security and success from things they learned from celebrities, secular leaders, or their story tellers. They are trying to find a certain type of love, peace, and joy-happiness. They want to experience these things in abundance. They also want these things for people that they care about as well.

Despite all the places they search and all the time and money they invest they are all still lost, as they continually worry. I too was like that. So, I write to help from an ancient perspective of time-honored wisdom.  Many believe that Biblical wisdom is the most valuable knowledge. We know that following Jesus is the way, He delivers true peace and forgiveness for everything we do in error, all our sins. He gives us a path to an eternal paradise. Most importantly, He gives us the Holy Spirit as a wonderful comforter and councilor. This is the “Good News”.

Galatians 5:22-25 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. New Living Translation. NLT

What is the toughest criticism given to you as an author?

It’s criticism related to my platform. Some publishing professionals will not accept my work because I don’t have a large enough platform. They fail to realize that my work is all about doing things God’s way. God’s has the world’s best platform with millions of followers all over the world.

What has been your best accomplishment as a writer?

Most would say that it’s getting the book “Selling God’s Way, Maximize Your Income and Business Relationships” published. But I would say that it’s seeing training material that I wrote 10 or 20 years ago still used today.

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

I have two books that I’m currently writing. One is titled “Competing God’s Way”. When completed, it will be a compilation of interviews with seven to ten Christian athletes and coaches. These men and women will tell their story of how they became Christians and how that translates to their sport and competing, especially as it relates to winning and losing.

The other is a historical fiction book that I’ve been working on for two years, titled “The Lost Book of Moe”. It’s about a man who was part of the five thousand people that Jesus fed during His Sermon on the mountain. This man named Moe, loses his faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, but regained it because he was part of the 500 people who saw Jesus after he was crucified and resurrected. Even though the book is fiction, it must be biblically accurate.

About the Author

Michael P. Hamer is a lifelong salesperson whose journey in selling began at the age of seven on the streets of Gary, Indiana, where he sold eggs with his grandfather, a deeply religious man who helped shape Michael’s values and work ethic. Throughout high school and college, Michael continued honing his sales skills, selling products typical of his peers, books door-to-door in Los Angeles, and advertising space at a theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Michael graduated from Boston University with a degree in communications, concentrating in advertising and marketing. Following graduation, he spent nearly three decades in advertising sales within the radio and television industries in the Washington, DC market. Over the years, he held a wide range of leadership roles, including Account Executive and General Sales Manager.

In his final media position, Michael served as Sales Manager for WAVA Radio, a Christian teaching and talk radio station. Throughout his career, he earned numerous awards and recognition for both sales performance and management excellence. Despite his success, Michael observed a growing lack of service-minded behavior and people-centered priorities in business. Motivated by his love for salespeople and his deep commitment to God’s Word, he wrote Selling God’s Way to offer a faith-based approach to ethical selling that strengthens relationships, reduces stress, and aligns business success with biblical principles.

Sometimes, the second chance we truly need is the one we give ourselves.

Ginny Carmichael feels trapped in her abusive relationship until an otherworldly visit ignites her determination to break free. With her baby daughter in tow, she embarks on a courageous road trip that not only takes her away from danger but also leads her to unexpected kindness, genuine connections, and profound forgiveness.

Along the way, she meets a compassionate waitress, a spirited aunt, and ultimately her estranged mother, who may hold the key to her healing. As Ginny approaches her destination—and the truth about her worth—she discovers that escape was never the destination. Wholeness was.

Second Chance Highway is a poignant tale of faith, friendship, and the path to restoration and redemption, and is the sequel to the award-winning Always Think of Me.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

Without question, the hardest part of writing a book is marketing. Every month, thousands of new titles flood Amazon and other retailers, all competing for readers’ attention. That’s why I’m especially grateful for book lovers like you, who help spread the word about fresh stories and new worlds.

What are your most played songs?

That’s an interesting question. I don’t have a single most-played song, but I do have favorite artists—Nathaniel Rateliff and Chris Stapleton, to name two. Their voices and lyrics always resonate with me. Chris’s rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, for example, stopped me in my tracks.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

I have three critique partners—talented women from the Knoxville (Tennessee) Writers Guild. They’re all accomplished writers who never hesitate to give honest feedback. They not only highlight the scenes that work well but also suggest where a different turn of phrase or a deeper perspective could strengthen my writing.

What book are you reading now?

I’m currently reading The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn.

How did you start your writing career?

I feel fortunate to have known by third grade that I wanted to be a writer. My career began in journalism, writing for daily newspapers and trade publications, which led to freelance magazine writing and to starting my own communications business. Before retiring, I spend nearly 20 years subcontracting for NASA—a great experience. Although fiction was always on my bucket list, I didn’t pursue it seriously until later in life. I often started projects only to stop when the story wouldn’t quite come together. It ultimately took a personal tragedy for me to finally write Always Think of Me, the prequel to Second Chance Highway.

Tell us about your next release.

Coming-of-age stories—like To Kill a Mockingbird, The Catcher in the Rye, and A Separate Peace—have always inspired me, so I’m taking a stab at writing in that genre. With the recent release of Second Chance Highway and a house full of company, I haven’t worked on the manuscript in what feels like weeks. But this week, I’m determined to dive back in.

Virtual Book Tour: A Round of Golf With Jesus by George Miller #nonfiction #interview #christian #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours
9:40 AM0 Comments

Christian Inspirational / Devotional Nonfiction

Date Published: July 8th, 2026

Publisher: Acorn Publishing

Faith and golf have a way of humbling us. They both seem more complicated than they are and harder to master than we expect. PGA professional George Miller has discovered that each is meant to bring joy, peace, and grace rather than frustration.

In A Round of Golf with Jesus, Miller invites readers to walk nine holes beside him and Christ, exploring how simple shifts, on the course and in the heart, can lead to transformation. With gentle humor, Miller shares personal stories, devotional insights, and practical teachings to remind us we can find fulfillment when we let go of perfection.

If we trust God’s guidance and focus on being present, golf and life become far more rewarding.

Interview

What was your main drive to write this book?

I read Leadership (not) by the Book by the owner and CEO of Hobby Lobby.  In it he says:  the most important question is one only you can answer “How may God want to use you to create some new sensation (one that just shouldn’t work, but does) to bring life to families, blessings to the world and joy to God’s heart”.  This encouraged me to write a book on golf with a spiritual side.

What do you hope readers will learn by reading this book?

That it is easier to have fun on the golf course than most people think and that it is easier to have Jesus as your best friend than most people think and it can turn your life into an exciting adventure!

Did you do much research when planning the book?

Thirty-three years as a PGA teaching professional helping people learn how to play better and a lifetime of believing in Jesus 100%.

Did you have any main people who helped you in the process of this book or influenced you to write it?

I had several things happen over the course of a month and a half that led me to believe that Jesus not only wanted me to write the book but the he wanted to write it with me.  These are spelled out in the book.

My friend Patsy was very supportive on a day-to-day basis in keeping me moving forward through the hard times of completing the book.

Do you have plans to write more about this topic or new topics?

I’m not sure yet as I am still teaching golf pretty full time.  I do have two or three ideas of books that I could write.
