Can you tell us a little about the process of getting this book published? How did you come up with the idea and how did you start?
I knew I would write a book someday. I had rehearsed it in my head for the last two years. I wanted to write a book that helped women financially who are, or have gone through hard times. As a single mom who went through a brutal divorce and recovered (my ex-husband quit his job so he wouldn’t have to pay child support, He tried to get me fired, he messed up my credit score with foreclosures) I felt it was important to share the things I did that helped me get through it. After relocating back to the United States I decided I may as well start now.
What surprised you most about getting your book published?
I was surprised by how many people shared kind words, not only about my new accomplishment but also about my character. Not to sound morbid, but it felt like people were sharing the things they usually save for someone’s funeral. It was eye-opening and a reminder to tell people how amazing they are before it’s too late.
Tell us a little about what you do when you aren’t writing
When I’m not writing I am spending time with my kids- ok, mostly driving them to activities because they’re teens now. I love traveling, hiking and experiencing new things.
As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?
The most pivotal point was finding my voice and realizing I have so many more books in me.
Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?
I am always pushing myself and striving for more. The people I surround myself with are also high achievers. We enjoy talking about our future goals and brainstorming on ideas to do together.
What is the toughest criticism given to you as an author?
I knew the title of my book, “Single Mom Millionaire” was going to trigger some people. I have had a few questions about my net worth. I don’t act or dress like I am wealthy, so someone accused me of lying like everyone else on the internet.
What has been your best accomplishment as a writer?
My biggest accomplishment was putting myself out there. I shared parts of my story that not many know about
How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
None. I was determined to finish Single Mom Millionaire fast because I knew exactly what I wanted to write. I took notes on other topics I would like to write about along the way that didn’t quite align with what I wanted this book to be
