Inspirational Memoir
Publisher: Inspire-Books
Release Date: October 1, 2019
Hopey chronicles the story of a courageous girl in a '70s Southern Indiana commune, complete with flowers for dinner, a ball of acid in the freezer, and orgies on the living room floor. The chaos of her formative years, which are littered with violent episodes, periods of hunger and assaults, leads Hope to set off on her own at the age of fifteen.
Written as intense past moments, reflective chapters, and flash-forwards, these three voices come together to transcend time and connect the past and the present. Honest and raw, with no request for empathy or complaint, the book is a celebration of the human spirit and an exhilarating read. Hopey is a reminder that we can love, we can believe, and we, too, can be successful beyond all expectations—if we only dare to hope.
Interview
What is the hardest part of writing your books?
Re-write and editing. The first draft moves it out of your brain
onto paper, then the real work begins. I sometimes wonder to myself how many
times I have re-read the material and continued to fix it each time. Then other
times I read it and think ‘no way I wrote that, it is horrible nonsense!’.
What songs are most played on your Ipod?
Most frequently played bands: Audioslave and
Godsmack. However, I am enjoying the summer country station.
Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
Yes and I would die without them. Three years
ago I joined a writers and critique group of women around the globe, they are
astonishing and have improved my writing immeasurably.
What book are you reading now?
Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz
How did you start your writing career?
I was in working at a small firm and had loads
of extra time. I joined multiple non-for-profit boards and was doing tons of
volunteering, and still found myself with time.
I wrote my first draft of my debut novel. The opening scene had played in the back of
my mind for years, I knew if I wrote a book it would be the opening scene.
Tell us about your next release.

1st. It is my debut novel, an
inspirational memoir, it follows a tumultuous childhood with glimpses of my
future success.
