The Angela Hardwicke Mysteries Book 2
Sci-Fi Mystery
Date Published: Sept 2021
Publisher: Crazy 8 Press
In the cosmic realm of Eternity, there’s only one private eye to hire when your world gets turned inside out—Angela Hardwicke.
Darla Fyne, a college freshman and galaxy design savant, is suffering from a nervous breakdown—or is she the victim of an urban legend known as the Scarlet Raj?
As Hardwicke follows the intersecting worlds of art galleries, college dorms, and a semi-secret clan that patches up tears in the Universe, her investigation will either uncover a hoax gone wrong or a plot that could shift the balance of power across the entire realm. If only she can fight through her own paranoia to tell the difference.
In Russ Colchamiro’s new Sci-Fi mystery Fractured Lives, Angela Hardwicke is confronted by a PI’s worst nightmare—dark secrets from her past.
Q:
What is the hardest part of writing your books?
Russ
Colchamiro: Making the time to concentrate. I work a full-time day job and have
two kids, a wife, a dog, and just regular life to manage. It forces me to be incredibly
efficient with my time. When I sit down to write, it’s critical I have as many
good sessions as possible because I have so many other responsibilities.
Q:
What songs are most played on your Ipod?
RC:
I have eclectic tastes. I’m a rock n’ roll man at heart, but I listen to all
sorts of music. Rock, pop, jazz, blues, classical, rap, and some country. Right
now I’m listening to Chris Daughtry’s new album, Dearly Beloved.
Q:
Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
RC:
I have 3-4 trusted beta readers. It’s taken me years to cull my list, but the readers
I show my work to (most are other writers), all give me different kinds of feedback
and, just as important, don’t let me get away with anything! They keep me
honest, which is critical. Their input elevates everything I write.
Q:
What book are you reading now?
RC:
I’m currently reading The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. It’s a trippy
mystery, a mix of Agatha Christie whodunnit, Groundhog Day, and Quantum Leap.
So far so good.
Q:
How did you start your writing career?
RC:
I’ve been writing most of my life, but I’ve been on ‘book tour’ for about a
dozen years, with no intention of slowing down.
Q: Tell us about your next release.
RC:
My new book is Fractured Lives, the second
in my Angela Hardwicke scifi mystery series. Angela Hardwicke is an intergalactic, hardboiled private eye, in my mind
a combination of Doctor Who, Blade Runner, and Philip Marlowe. Her home ‘turf’
is Eternity, the cosmic real responsible for the design, construction, and
maintenance of the Universe. Hardwicke takes cases at ground level—extortion,
corporate espionage, unsolved murders, kidnappings, and the like—but also those
involving shapeshifters, AIs, time travel, alternate dimensions, and other mind
and time-bending scenarios. Hardwicke is in her mid-30s, and a single mother
with a unique child. By the nature of the cases she takes, she often finds
herself in dangerous situations that a run-of-the-mill PI wouldn’t know how to
handle.
The first book in the series, Crackle and Fire, came out last years. And I’m currently writing
the third book in the series, which will go on sale in the fall of 2022.
