Can you tell us a
little about the process of getting this book published? How did you come up
with the idea and how did you start? Once I decided to make my book published, I
knew I had to work with a team that would guide me and help make me a known author.
Therefore, I researched three top publishing companies with high credentials
and review status. I sent an email to all three and set up a consultation to
learn more about their company and what they could offer me as a first-time
author. Based on the responses, I picked the company that best suited my
writing style and my goal of marketing the book.
What surprised you
most about getting your book published? I wasn’t surprised but was shocked
by the various tedious time it takes to edit a book.
Tell us a little
about what you do when you aren’t writing. When I’m not writing, I manage
my Insurance Agency Company and train staff on team building and leadership.
Also, in my non-writing time, I enjoy
working on coordinating for my foundation, The Fruits of HER Labor, Women’s Brunch, which is held quarterly.
As a published
author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life? Making
sure I connect with the reader. Telling my story was rewarding, but it was
important for readers to make the connection and apply those applicational
tools to their lives as well.
Where do you get your
best ideas and why do you think that is? I get my best ideas by hearing
others speak. I am an attentive listener, so I truly process what others are
trying to convey. Whether I agree with them or not, it generates ideas in my
mind to speak my truth about the topic at hand.
What is the toughest
criticism given to you as an author? One was to change my original title
because it limited my audience to only one sub-population. And another is when giving a speaking
engagement opportunity, always stay true to who you are and the message you are
trying to convey. Don’t change your story to fits someone else's mood.
What has been your
best accomplishment as a writer? Having my book make the #1 International
Bestseller
How many unpublished
and half-finished books do you have? I have one half-finished journal
workbook that coincides with the book, She’s Bearing All Fruits that I need to
complete. And I recently started writing for my second book, which will be
called: Trust the Seed YOU are Planting (coming soon)
