Children's Book
I Know a Guy Named Noah Guy is a delightful and imaginative rhyming picture
book that will capture the hearts of young readers! Follow along with Noah
Guy, a character who knows he’s in a book, as he takes you on
whimsical adventures where the only limit is your imagination. From riding
bulls at the rodeo to joining the circus, Noah shows that anything is
possible with a friend by your side.
This charming story celebrates friendship, teamwork, and the power of never
giving up. The rhythmic verses are designed to engage young minds, promoting
speech, cognitive development, and early literacy skills. Children will love
the playful language, sound patterns, and the chance to predict what comes
next—just like in their favorite nursery rhymes.
INTERVIEW
Introduce yourself and tell me about what you do.
My name is Jeanne Ward, I am a mother of three, grandmother of two and a business owner. Family is everything to me. Me and my eldest brother married siblings, creating a unique environment of double cousins and a close-knit family. I live in Brooklyn NY where I own and operate an Early intervention program for young children with autism. I opened my school in 1998, and I have all 3 of my siblings, had all 3 of my children, my daughters-in-laws, all my nieces and nephew, and my uncle work there at one time or another. Additionally, I have my brother and brother-in-law who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the school remains a success. I am a special educator, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and love what I do for a living.
My eldest are twins. One lives right outside Asheville North Carolina with his wife and daughter. He, like me, is a special educator and a BCBA. Although he has a physics degree from NYU, he found a passion working with children with autism after he graduated college and working for me while applying to graduate school. My other son, my partner in these books has moved back from Nashville Tenn and currently lives in Newburgh NY with his wife and newborn son. My youngest, Phoenix, will leave for High Point University in North Carolina in a month. I lost my husband to cancer nearly 6 years ago and I am about to be an empty nester. It is my sincere hope to spend my days writing Noah Guy stories, running my school and being the best mom and grandma I can be.
Tell me more about your journey as an author, including the writing processes.
It is with pride that I say all 3 of my children have musical talent. Tyler (my partner) has a natural ability to write and create music. He has a degree from Stevens Insitute of Technology in Audio Engineering and worked in Nashville for several years prior to returning to New York. He spent much of his teenage years playing in front of local crowds either in neighborhood pubs, at fundraisers or various school events. He has a solo CD that he wrote, performed and recorded as a teenager. Although he is a true talent, he never wanted to be the "front man" and was always happiest behind the board.
Our Noah Guy journey began on a family vacation when Tyler made an off-the-cuff remark that someday when he becomes a country music star, he will go by the stage name Noah Guy. Knowing this was said in jest, and that he had no desire to do this, I ask, if I wrote children's books with Noah as the main character would he create a companion song to go along with each story. Not realizing I would have the first 5 books written prior to the end of the vacation, Tyler set out to write the music to accompany these stories. It was our goal for him to create songs that would be catchy enough to a child but would also not be painful to the adult who tends to listen to these songs on repeat.
Having worked with children my entire career, it was easy to find something to write about, every child likes an adventure and Noah goes on plenty. In the future, you will be introduced to Noah's kid brother "little guy" these books will focus on teaching concepts like shapes, size, seasons etc, these all taught as Noah helps his brother with kindergarten homework assignments. You will learn geography, as we have Noah travel from state-to-state highlighting what he saw in each state and their capitals. Down the road you will see books that will discuss Noah taking part in various historical events. You will meet his friend with autism named True Blue, and maybe at some point bring in a female counterpart.
Tell me about your Book
I have always had the ability to rhyme, and prior to this venture served little to no purpose, other to write an occasional poem. But I put those skills to work to create Noah in a very Dr Suess sort of format.
