Dax, low status and a non-conformist, is stuck in the middle of the unending aliens wars. It's 2187, and Earth has the Katarga trapped on the moon, refusing to allow them to escape. Then there are ongoing threats from the Piltrak and Jurale, which forces Global Command to recruit 15-year-olds like Dax, as soldiers. She never imagined she'd be advanced as a soldier, yet she was hand-picked by gruff Commander Viteri and taken from her parents, never to see them again. She doesn't want to kill aliens, and suspects there's more to the wars than keeping the aliens at bay. The problem is, she has to find a way to stay alive long enough to reveal the truth.
Interview
What is the hardest part of writing
your books?
I think it’s getting into the rhythm. By that, I mean finding my pace and a comfortable amount of words each day. That doesn’t mean I always meet my goal, but if 1,000 words seems to work before I need a break, then I try to hit that goal.

What songs are most played on your
Ipod?
Oh, that’s a tough one. I have quite
an eclectic mix. I love U2, Mozart, One Republic, AWOLNation, Muse, 21 Pilots,
Neil Diamond, Enya. Like I said, quite a strange mix.
Do you have critique partners or beta
readers?
I have a wonderful critique group, but
unfortunately, I moved away and we did Skype meetings for a while, but each of
us (there are four in our group) seemed to get really busy the last few months
and haven’t managed to set a new date yet. But a critique group really is
essential!
What book are you reading now?
I’m actually into classics right now. I
moved to Monterey, California about a year ago, where John Steinbeck lived, so
I’m going through his work at the moment. Finished East of Eden, now I’m onto
Cannery Row.
How did you start your writing career?
I started writing when I was pretty
young. I think it was an escape because I’m from Australia and had a strong
accent when I was young. The kids at school teased me, so to escape the taunts,
I would go off to a corner or behind a building and stick my nose in a notebook
and write. If I didn’t make eye contact, they seemed to leave me alone. Now
when I look back at it, it’s so sad that I had to try to hide or fade into the
background to avoid bullies, but on the good side, it helped me building my
writing career.
War and Money, Book 1, is a fast-paced
action YA sci-fi with a strong female protagonist, Dax. She’s outspoken,
questioning, and a non-conformist in the near future. She’s recruited as a soldier,
which carries a stipend for her parents, which is desperately needed. But, Dax
never wanted to be a soldier fighting alien species she knows nothing about.
After snooping around, she discovers an awful truth about the alien wars and
decides to find a way to reveal her findings before she, and her entire squad,
are killed in battle. Her squad is the “loser” squad and will be sent to the
moon to fight the Katarga aliens. Nobody ever survives.
I’m a multi-genre fiction writer who was born in Sydney, Australia, but now lives in Central California. With degrees in environmental science and archaeology, I enjoy being out in nature when I’m not glued to my desk writing or researching a new story idea. Writing is a true passion of mine, born from a love of the written word that can transport the reader to different places or worlds and deliver them back to reality, safe and sound.
