What if your deepest, darkest fears were inked on your skin for the world to see?
Famous plastic surgeon Derek Hollinger has it all: money, success, luxury cars, and an L.A. penthouse near the beach. Who cares if he has no friends or lovers? He doesn’t need anyone.
But Derek’s seemingly perfect life is shattered after a chance encounter with a mysterious old woman. When he wakes up covered in tattoos, the shadow of his traumatic past—one he can no longer outrun—looms large.
Aided in his desperate quest for the truth by the young nurse he once scorned, Derek’s only hope for redemption lies within his own damaged psyche. What do the tattoos mean? Are they part of God’s plan for him, a test of his lapsed faith…or a curse brought on by his own arrogance?
And can he get rid of them before he loses everything?
INTERVIEW
What
is the hardest part of writing your books?
The hardest part is conveying the feeling
of the moment. How the surroundings impact the senses. When I write I try to
activate the readers 5 senses through my characters, thoughts and actions.
Sometimes this can get quite complex, and I will then have to whittle down the verbiage
to keep the reader engaged.
What
songs are most played on your Ipod?
Contemporary
Christian and a lot of 80’s , 50’s and 60’s songs. Christian songs while I run
puts me in the zone. 80’s songs when I party and 50’s and 60’s when I play
cards. Country Rock when I drive around town if I am not listening to an audio
book or the bible.
Do
you have critique partners or beta readers?
Yes,
I have a friend that is a writer who has helped me tremendously. My
daughter-in-law gives great feedback- she is a teacher. And I go to writers’
conferences where I submit my work. I have also belonged to writer’s groups in
the past.
What
book are you reading now?
Call
The Canaries Home by Laura Barrow- It’s based in Louisiana that is where my
husband is from, I love southern fiction novels. They remind me of my childhood
in North Carolina.
How
did you start your writing career?
I became serious during the time I was
taking Chemo for Stage 3 Breast Cancer and I was locked down because my immune
system was low. I had a few reasons to start, I had the time and If I didn’t
survive it at least I had done something I always wanted to do- Write a Book!
Tell
us about your next release.
I have written two and
almost finished my third in the Tattoo Series. The second book is going into
editing and the third book is 80% finished.
Each book’s storyline builds on the other. The first
book starts out with the life changing event of Derek being covered in tattoos
and his head nurse and manager Kendal helping him. By Book Two (my next
release) they have lost some of the ground they had gained in their relationship,
but the lessons learned help them to grow stronger. More Characters are introduced
in book two. By book three he begins to answer the questions that have been plaguing
him in order to solve the mystery as to how and why he has the tattoos and
possibly how to get rid of them.
