When a man in power believes he's God, mankind doesn't have a prayer
Interview
What is the hardest part of writing your books?
It really takes time to flesh out a good, compelling story. I’m very impatient and want to present my offerings to the masses, when I really instead need to just slow down, dig down deep and get myself comfortable in my foxhole as I do battle with substandard writing styles. I truly want a book that is utterly compelling, where the reader can identify with the struggle of the protagonist(s) and relate to their journey.
What are your most played songs?
Right now it’s “Fight On, Fighter” by For King and Country. I’m really only listening to them right now as I just recently discovered them. I LOVE that song. But I also really love “Empathy” by Alanis Morissette, and “Fire” by Gavin DeGraw, among so many others.
Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
I do! I have a growing team of different people who have been very helpful along my authoring and publishing journey. Very grateful for them, and for their feedback!
What book are you reading now?
Ha! I just finished reading my own! I read through my entire Dissonance alien invasion hexalogy all-in-one version. Volume I: Reality has been adapted for the screen and is being pitched to streaming networks, and I’m utterly excited about that. Can’t wait to see what happens with that. As such I need to make sure I’m up on my story. And I also wanted to do one final review of it, even though it's published, to make sure I didn’t miss any glaring errors or plot holes. I wanted to do that through reading all six volumes, because that way I can see the entire overarching story. However, at any given moment I am dangerously close to plunging right back into The Lord of the Rings special edition yet again.
How did you start your writing career?
In 1981, I was tasked by my 2nd grade teacher – we all were – with writing a fictional story. I wrote something crude and elementary (because I was in elementary school, ha!) called “The Electric Boy.” It stole elements from the novelization of E.T., admittedly, but it was so cute and really set me on the path of being a writer because I loved the process.
Tell us about your next release.
My next release will be The End: Omicron in late April or early May. That is with the editor right now, and it’s uh-MAZE-eeng. Can’t wait to reveal what journeys Sage and the rest of them have gone on following The End: Alpha!
