Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

Finding the time to write. I have never had a block of time to sit down and write. I have had to fit it into my busy schedule. This has been fortunate, as I feel very creative driving my car so I speak into a recorder and get my ideas down and then work on them when I do have the time to sit at the computer.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?

Folk songs from Gordon Lightfoot, Judy Collins, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Eric Anderson and Tom Rush to name a few artists. There are many more.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

I have a wonderful editor who has helped me tremendously both in editing but also offering great content. She is kind enough to tell me when things are not working.

What book are you reading now?

The same book that Steve Jobs of Apple Corporation read when he was a teenager and once a year after that. There was only one book on his Ipad and Steve Jobs last wish was that everyone who came to his memorial service would receive a gift of this book, The Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. I am also reading it again.

How did you start your writing career?

Through a spiritual experience where I was show to focus on color and its various uses in the things we wear and in our environment. This was also to include the use of color in healing and color in the aura and chakras. I then wrote my bestselling book Seven Mansions of Color.

Tell us about your next release
I have several books on the go right not. The other one I've just published is Spiritualize the Workplace
I think my friend Eli Bay, President of The Relaxation Response Institute says it best of all.
"In Spiritualize the Workplace, Alex Jones offers a practical blueprint to achieve life-affirming success and spiritual satisfaction, even (or especially) in the conflict-ridden, stressful workplace. His guidance to the perennial wisdom and spiritual practice is encapsulated in simple mindfulness techniques and a wonderful assortment of great affirmations to spiritualize work and to create a life of integrity and joy."

Author, musician, spiritual director and meditation instructor,  Alex Soltys Jones is most well known for his best-selling book Seven Mansions of Color. Published in 1976, it has become a classic in Color Therapy.
Perfectly timed for 2017, his newest books are  Journey of the Heart and Spiritualize the Workplace.
His other titles include: Meditation — Where East and West Meet, How Much Did You Love, Awaken the Christ Within You, Christian Meditation, Conversations with Christ, and Creative Thought Remedies.
Alex was the first to write and produce New Age relaxation music in Canada. His music titles include Kali’s Dream, Awake & Dreaming and Pranava. His guided meditations include Angels of Color & Sound and Peace Beyond Stress. All have become soothing and enlightening aids to meditation, yoga and stress management classes as well as popular relaxation induction aids for listeners at home.
A longtime Stress Management Instructor, Alex worked at the Dorothy Madgett Stress Management Clinic in downtown Toronto where he taught relaxation classes and a 15 week lecture series to groups and individuals.
Many of his clients at the clinic were from the business community. As he worked with these clients they disclosed to him and themselves their own misgivings and vulnerabilities. Alex saw the tremendous stress and anxiety individuals were facing in the workplace: “It was obvious to me that a deep sense of spirituality was needed in the workplace and hence the creation of  Spiritualize the Workplace.”
Alex offers meditation classes based on his book Meditation — Where East and West Meet, and lectures and workshops on color, stress management and opening the heart.
Alex, a certified Spiritual Director, graduated from the University of British Columbia’s Pacific Jubilee Program at the Vancouver School of Theology. He is also a  graduate of Tyndale University with the degree bachelor of Religious Education.
He has practiced meditation and yoga since his twenties and, in young adulthood, spent a nine month period of seclusion in the Rocky Mountains. At 24, he became a monastic in Paramahansa Yogananda’s Spiritual Organization ( Self-Realization Fellowship), dedicating his life in the search for God. He continues to faithfully practice Paramahansa Yogananda’s life transforming meditation techniques to this day.
“I have been fortunate to have touched the lives of thousands through my books, music and workshops. Many have said my gentle approach makes it easy for them to feel safe and open to their highest potential...My mission is to help others rediscover their diamond essence and from that inner center meet all life’s difficulties with courage, love, peace and joy.”

Erotic Romance
Date Published: 4/28/2017

Yumiko Itsumoto wants it all. An accomplished artist and feared attorney, she gets what she wants, all else be damned. Now she wants love, even if it means charting a new course for her life, but changing course can be dangerous.  In mere moments, she tumbles from the dizzying pinnacle of success into a bottomless abyss of murder and treachery.  Yumiko will not live happily ever after—not this time—but can she at least find a way to stay alive?

EXCERPT

Jun gave me a towel, with which I wrapped up my hair, and a yukata, one of his. Its sleeves hung well past my hands, but its hem did not drag the ground. I decided to go ahead and indulge. I’d had a difficult night. A little smear of grease on my back would do the trick. I worked as quickly as I could to remove the rest, but it still took me perhaps twenty or thirty minutes.
I emerged from the bathroom with a much-improved mood.
Jun lived in a modest flat, sparsely decorated in Japanese style: tatami flooring and rice-paper screens to separate (or not) a small bedroom from the tearoom. I liked it. He had put on a yukata as well and sat formally in the tearoom. I duly went to the first guest position and knelt.
“Do you have any citric acid?”
He blinked and asked, “Citric acid?” I had woken poor Jun from a sound sleep and it seemed he was still trying to gather his wits.
In my gentlest voice, I said, “Yes. I was unable to remove all of the grease from my skin. If I might further impose upon your hospitality, I would be grateful for your help with it. Citric acid, lemon juice if you have it, might break down the grease more readily than soap.”
He stood and walked toward his small kitchen. I turned my back to him and widened my stance to sit directly on the ground with my feet beside me, and I opened my yukata to drop it from my shoulders and expose my deliberate grease smear. Holding the yukata up with the crooks of my elbows, I crossed my arms over my chest and turned my head down. His steps halted when he saw me. His voice, when he spoke, bore more confidence than his approaching footfalls.
“I would be honored to provide you with whatever counsel I can, Itsumoto-san.”
“Thank you, Jun-san,” I said, “and please call me Yumi.”
“Will you tell me of the matter?”
I inhaled to fill the hollow in my chest and kept silent, tasting enjoyment in dabs of cold lemon juice against my back, softer than raindrops. I’d have all day to tell my tale before he finished, and part of me wanted to drag it out. The better part of me wanted to rip the band-aid off and be done with it.
“I was in the subway yesterday. There was a woman next to me. She was killed by a passing train. I believe I will be charged with her murder.”
“Why would you be charged?”
Another deep breath did nothing to fill my chest. It was hard enough admitting my mistake, a mistake made in the making of another mistake. I had to tell him the unconfessed secret of my heart. In a way, sitting half-naked in front of him made it easier to let go of my pride.
“I believe she was engaged to marry a man I previously dated—a past lover. I had gone to his home yesterday hoping I could reconcile myself to him. When I got there, someone, I believe it was this woman, was there with him. I left without announcing myself. It seems she left not long after I did and intended to catch the same train as me.
“After the incident, I ran. That was foolish. I was scared, shocked, and not thinking clearly. I have not been sleeping well. I had not slept for perhaps a week. This insomnia has affected my mental state. I did not intend to kill her, but I stood to benefit from her death. There were witnesses. I paid my PASMO with a credit card. The police will be able to determine who I am.”
Jun’s hands on my back remained timid, but his voice reassured. “Your situation may not be so dire as you believe it, Yumiko-san, but I can understand how it troubles you.”
The room filled with silence until I deemed it thick enough to call attention to my next statement.
“Jun,” I said, “when a woman takes off her clothes and kneels before you, it’s safe to assume you can drop the honorific.”
“I never assume facts not in evidence.”
I sighed and gave instructions. “I want you to call me Yumi. I want you to press hard against the stain on my back and scrub until I am clean.”
He did as I told him, taking my shoulder in one hand to steady me and grinding into the grease with his other. Sooner than I might have liked, a smear of cold water slid up my back, and the collar of my yukata patted me dry. I gave him further instructions.
“I also want you to fuck my brains out.”
His hands snapped back.
I waited him out, wandering my gaze along the weave of his tatami floor. Eventually he spoke.
“Will you not be needing them?”
I liked the innocence of his question, so I answered earnestly. “They have functioned poorly in recent times.” I waited again to hear his next quandary.
“I would think it a difficult thing to do to a woman of your considerable intellect.”
“Take your time.”
I waited while he tried to think through what was happening, seemingly as disturbed by his own unanticipated circumstances as I had been by mine the night before. Clammy fingertips, followed by their palm, touched down high on my back and slid haltingly up my shoulder and alongside my neck. I tilted my head up, yielding to the almost imperceptible push of his index finger under my jaw. He followed, and I continued until I craned my neck back as far as it would go.
When his fingertips drew gently against my throat, I went with them instead of letting them drag against my skin. I kept leaning, transferring my weight onto my toes, which pointed back along the floor by my sides.
Flipping over my toes to set my weight on my spine and straighten my knees from that position is always an awkward move. Jun was unprepared for how suddenly I fell backward when my weight transferred, but he caught me with a hand behind my neck before my head hit the floor. That was just as well because his abrupt catch knocked the towel free from my hair and just in time because I held my back still fully arched and would have driven my head hard into the mat.
I’d left my hands in my lap, straightening my elbows as he bent me backward, leaving my torso bare in front of him. My yukata, folded inward over my thighs, provided only a pretense of modesty. His eyes struggled not to wander while I stared up at him, so I closed mine to let his have their way. I’d told him to take his time, so I parted my lips and waited.
“Did you do it?”
My eyelids rocked open. “You ask your clients if they’re guilty?”
“I’m asking you.”
I closed my eyes again and rolled my spine downward, relaxing my back to the floor. “Nice dodge.”
“Likewise,” he volleyed. “Shall we play again?”
“I’d rather not.”
“Then answer my question.”
His hand behind my neck firmed and steadied and was soon joined by his other hand to cradle my head. Jun had no idea how to handle a woman, but he knew exactly what to do with a hostile witness.
I had to tell him, and he knew it. I was the one asking him for help. He could simply decline and be rid of me. Something inside him clamped down and turned to stone. He was awake now, and our little back-and-forth spanned the full width of his patience. It takes a hard man to set murderers free every day and still look at himself in the mirror.
I drew a slow breath to show him I would answer. I needed a hard man. I was a murderer.

PROMO Blitz: 5 Essential Dimensions by @lightphilosophy with a #giveaway
5:41 PM0 Comments

Nonfiction Self -Help
Date Published: August 2016

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

This book unveils an amazing theory. Our lives have five dimensions that are essential for living a healthy, successful, and tranquil existence. These are our financial, social, internal, physical, and spiritual affairs. This book offers insight into helping us recognize the five life dimensions. It will teach us how to bring these dimensions into balance. We cannot reach our potential as individuals unless all five of these life dimensions are balanced. If we neglect any one of them, the ensuing disharmony destroys our tranquility and can wreck our lives. The 5 Essential Dimensions is an attempt to prevent this happening.

Excerpt

If you happen to be a good cook, you’d know that it is not necessary for each individual ingredient of a broth to taste good on its own. Some may be bitter, others sour, or sharp. But by combining them in a recipe you achieve a delicious result. The secret is in having a recipe that balances all the constituent elements to achieve a whole that is far better than the individual ingredients. The same applies to all walks of life. A car factory may be greasy and noisy, but from it rolls a succession of perfect, shiny, beautiful machines.

It is possible to achieve balance in our lives, but to do so we need to ask the right questions. Do not ask “How do I make money?” Instead, ask “How do I achieve equilibrium in my monetary affairs?” Because searching for equilibrium reveals the wisest course to follow, no matter what the issue.

Many people focus so much on trying to make money that they sacrifice either social equilibrium or spiritual equilibrium in the process. They help no one, and ignore morality. Take drug dealers, for example; they make money, but they do it by a process that destroys families, and offends both morality and society. Their very existence is a threat to others.

Similarly, the man who makes money but does it at the expense of taking the time to raise his children properly, or looking after his parents, or being attentive to his wife; such a person destroys his social equilibrium.

He is wealthy, but cannot be considered successful. If he neglects important areas of his life and focuses just on one, he is like a student who learns only one subject. He may excel at chemistry, but will fail all his other exams, and will be unfit for the world of work.

If we make equilibrium our goal we will avoid this failure. We will accord each aspect of our life the value it is due, without trampling on the others. We will pursue money only up to the point that it maintains our financial equilibrium. And when our needs are met we will address other areas that require our attention. In this way, we will maintain our internal equilibrium.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books? Finding the time. With three kids and everything that comes along with them, I find it hard to get my writing done.

What songs are most played on your Ipod? Anything Maroon 5. I love Adam Levine. So hot. Fall Out Boy, Pink, Katy Perry, Flo Rida, and many more. I have quite the eclectic mix of music on my phone.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers? I have some beta readers, but I’m always looking for more. People get busy and I don’t always have as many helpers as I would like.

What book are you reading now? I’m not reading at the moment. I’m in the process of editing two books, writing a short story, and writing a new novel. The last book I read was Fidelity by Aleatha Romig. Loved it.

How did you start your writing career? I worked in a very busy ER and one day a story popped into my head. I started writing it. The story was A Shot in the Dark. Since then I’ve published five other books and I have three more coming out this year and two short stories.

Tell us about your next release. My next release is Surrender. It’s actually a re-release. I signed on with Limitless Publishing and they are re-publishing all of my books.
Surrender is about Katherine, a young woman who walks in on her fiancé cheating on her days before her wedding. She decides to go on her honeymoon alone. Tony is running from the cartel who killed his family. His only hope of escaping Italy alive is Katherine. Will they escape Italy unharmed or will they suffer the same fate as Tony’s family?

The next new book I’m releasing will be in August. It’s entitled Web of Lies. Trent and Parker had it all—or at least it appeared they did. Their marriage was unraveling. Trent fell in love with the nanny while Parker reconnected with a long time love. If that wasn’t bad enough, Parker and Trent’s dad dissolved their business and Trent’s dad disappears. The race is on to find Johnathon Davis and figure out if their marriage can be saved.

JG Sumner is a Registered Nurse who went rogue.  As good as she was at starting IV's, she enjoys writing the down the stories in her head even more.  Most of the time the characters won't stop pestering her until she has them down on paper.
JG can often be found with a glass of red wine or prosecco in front of her computer.  When she's not creating, she enjoys the outdoors hiking, bike riding, snowboarding, and camping.
JG has a very dry sense of humor, and should never be taken too seriously.  She loves to hear from her fans, and even those who aren't and would love to hear your opinion on her books.
JG writes romantic suspense/thrillers including: A Shot in the Dark, Into the Light, The Surrender Trilogy including Surrender, Shattered, and Saved which will be available through Limitless Publishing soon.

INTERVIEW

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
The editing process is tedious for me.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?
Lately I’ve been obsessed with Kaleo and Sia. But I listen to all types of music from Latin pop rock to the Counting Crows. Add in some 90s rock and some Classical Music and I’m set to go.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
My best friend critiques my work first. She’s the one who tells me if the story is worth it. I also have a couple wonderful beta readers, rising authors as well, who have helped me out tremendously.

What book are you reading now?
I’m currently reading the Princess series by Alexa Riley and am about to read Jade West’s new book Buy Me, Sir.

How did you start your writing career?
I was young, fourteen, and being bullied at school. I always enjoyed writing so I used my pen to escape. First story I ever wrote was a Vampire Romance.

Sunset Reads: Sebastian & Daisy’s story.
I’m excited about sexy British Sebastian. He’s been a trip to write. He’s a lonely playboy with a heart of gold. Daisy’s story is the more intense one in the series. I went into touching abusive relationships with her and I think it has molded her character into a strong, independent woman. These two are perfect for each other, I love the way they come together and how electric they are. The series just keeps getting hotter and hotter.

D.C. Triana is a new romance author and novelist. She was born in raised in New York  and is currently residing in Florida. Last March, Her dream of publishing a romance novel came true with, Sunset Reads: William & Cristina. The novel is currently holding a 4.5 star rating on Amazon as well as GoodReads. She is excited to announce her second novel in the series, Sunset Reads: Damian & Layla, releasing on December 26, 2016.
When she is not delving into her hopeless romantic thoughts, she is expanding her experiences and travelling around the world. She also will not miss an episode of the Walking Dead, has an obsession with Superman, and has watched Pride and Prejudice at least ten times. An avid fan of all types of music and dancing; she enjoys cuddling up with her puppy Obi, and helping new authors like herself.
