This book grew out of the first seven years of August Lageman’s practice as a shaman. The book shows how the teachings of the Four Winds Society actually work with clients. In addition, August kept an open mind and integrated tools and insights from other forms of healing such as reiki and Holographic Healing. This book demonstrates how a person with a rocky childhood can heal from early wounds with the help of skilled shamans. August writes from his heart. You will learn how a shaman needs to be ready for the unexpected.

About the Author

August had a career as a pastor, a college teacher, and a psychotherapist. He served in the military for over twenty-nine years and did enlisted service in the US Marine Corps in the early sixties. Then August was commissioned as an officer in the Army Reserves and National Guard, serving both in the reserves and on active duty. He retired with over twenty-nine years of service as a full colonel in 2003. August trained as a shaman in the Four Winds Society, graduating in 2010.

Jesse Fairlane is missing. Max Larkin and Special Agent Michaels are unsure if this is related to a recent case involving human trafficking or something else. As Larkin, Michaels, and the other detectives work furiously to find Jesse before it's too late, Max finds himself despairing they'll find her alive. He struggles to maintain his relationship with Veronica and trying to be a friend to Jesse's girlfriend, Melissa, all while following a maze of clues to Jesse.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
My biggest challenge is time. It takes me about 6 months to write a full novel because of my full time job. I generally work about 50 hours a week or so.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?

I have mostly 1980’s Hair bands like Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Poison.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

My first reader is always my wife. She can be tough but sometimes that’s needed.

What book are you reading now?

. I read a lot when I was younger but between work, writing, being a husband, a father of four, and just recently I became a grandfather, there hasn’t been a lot of time to read.

How did you start your writing career?

I began writing in 2010. Its always been a dream of mine but I just needed the right characters and stories.

Tell us about your next release.

I am currently writing a book called “The Plastics” It’s my first dip into the horror genre and really am loving the story so far.

About the Author

Perhaps you wouldn't characterize the Finance Manager of your local automobile dealership as an Amazon best-selling author--until you get to know Todd Thiede. He has worked for the past decade at Elmhurst Toyota, but Thiede is in the driver's seat as the writer of a murder mystery series featuring his hero Detective, Max Larkin. "Time Killer," which Kirkus Reviews deemed "a fast-paced thriller" that will "keep crime and thriller fans wrapped up in its twisting plot, fast pace and memorable detective,", "Lies To Die For" (which reached No. 1 on Amazon in the "Serial Killer" category), Miss Me? (3rd in the series) and Slashtag (4th in the series) are available via Amazon Kindle.
Go to www.toddthiede.com for more info on Todd and his books.

According to Kirkus reviews (the toughest book reviewer in the business):
A fast-paced thriller centered on a brutal, time-obsessed serial killer.
The expression "killing time" rarely means murder, but here, the victims of a serial killer must pay for time they've wasted, often with both their money and their lives. In a brutal scene from the opening chapter, an entire family is murdered after a stranger invades the family's home and accuses the patriarch of wasting his time. Veteran cop Max Larkin is on the case. Unfortunately, he's also been assigned a new partner; though she's green in the field--she has "very sad eyes" and prays upon arriving at the first crime scene--she gives the hardened old detective a new perspective he never knew he needed. But as the serial killer claims more victims, a pattern emerges that neither Max nor his new partner can ignore. With brisk pacing, Thiede's debut brims with action, violence and, occasionally, emotion. Though the book takes a while to find its heart, procedural fans will feel right at home. Larkin feels like a guy worth rooting for, despite filling the shoes of the beaten-down, grizzled, old loner cop trope a little too well. His interactions with his new partner, plus the twists and revelations regarding his past, give him enough of a pass to get readers invested in the story
and looking forward to his next outing. Larkin's story doesn't break any boundaries, but it'll keep crime and thriller fans wrapped up in its twisting plot, fast pace and memorable detective. Plenty of shock value and a charismatic, if formulaic, male lead.

Entering a shadowy world filled with cryptic messages and dangerous men, Phyllis learns quickly that a safety net doesn't exist and if she wants to survive, she better figure out the game fast.

Book Review

There were so many deeper levels to this story. The plot wasn't super fast paced, but was steady throughout.

The setting of this was very well done, I could picture it clearly.  Slagle doesn't rely on her readers simply being familiar with the atmosphere, She makes sure they can picture it for themselves.

Characterization is key in any novel and I felt like each and every character was well portrayed and served their own purpose within the story.

For the most part I think the author managed to write a pretty authentic historical novel.

Interview

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

The hardest part of writing for me is when, the time I write. Since I have a full time job as an Administrations Manager, (about 52 hours a week) I write on the weekends or late at night. I also use my vacations and holidays to write as well. In addition to work, I have five grandkids that are active in various sports that also take away from my writing time.

What songs are most played on your iPod?

I do not have an iPod, however I do listen to music on my laptop while I write. The type of music I listen to depends on what scene I'm writing. However in general I listen to various music genres. The most listened songs on my laptop are Angels Fall by Breaking Benjamin, Rise Above This by Seether, Never Again by Nickelback, Trenches by Pop Evil and Wasted Time by Keith Urban.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

Yes, my main critique partners are my wife and daughter. I also have some teacher friends that read chapters for me. Lastly, there are a few kids that read chapters as well just so I can see their reactions.

What book are you reading now?

The book I'm currently reading is a book I read almost forty years ago. My version of the book has 1668 pages. The book I'm referring too – The Bible.

How did you start your writing career?

My writing "career" started in 2006. While working in the steel processing business for almost fifteen years, my place of employment changed hands, for the third time in 2006; fighting for my job, again. In the same year my first granddaughter, Kendall, "Papa's Angel" was born. This as one of the most uplifting moments of my life. In addition, it was during this time when my emotions were running wild; I became inspired as well as determined to write my penned-up thoughts on paper.

For Deamhan, revenge is the best dish of all.

In 1840s Paris, vampires aren’t just at the throats of humans. Split into two warring factions, Dorvo vampires wage war against the Deamhan, their paranormal cousins created by dark magic and who feed on the psychic energy of their human victims. In this strange new world, Remy, a bourgeoisie, is sired as a Deamhan by Julian. But the intoxicating rush of becoming a powerful psychic vampire is soon eclipsed by the presence of Ruby, a beautiful yet elusive Dorvo vampire.

Betrayed by his own, Ruby feeds his undesirable urge to have his revenge against Julian and the rest of the Deamhan. But he doesn’t know if he can trust Ruby. She may have given him his freedom, but she’s still the enemy who has vowed to vanquish the Deamhan, the very same Deamhan that betrayed him. Now it’s up to Remy to decide who to trust -- and who to destroy.

In Remy, The Brotherhood Files, author Isaiyan Morrison presents a paranormal urban fantasy about fractured relationships, mistrust, and forgiveness. Here in the City of Love, it’s anything but, as Remy’s caught between two warring sides who both want him gone. Will his desire for revenge cloud his judgment? Or will he figure out who he can trust once and for all? In this wild journey from the graveyard and through the dark alleys and cobblestoned streets of Paris, Remy is both hunter…and prey.

Review

I liked this vampire world! It was different and darker than I am used to, but I loved it. I liked the flawed main character Isaiyan Morrison managed to created. I didn't always understand Remy, but I could relate often and enjoyed watching him succumb throughout the book.

Review

An endearing tale about a girl who is underestimated and a misunderstood monkey and the bond they create. I loved that this novel was light and fun while also holding lessons and obstacles to overcome for the characters. It was a great genre relevant novel.

April Barnes was a simple girl with a simple life. All she wanted was to graduate and help the world. Everything changes when her only friend Vanessa Lewis talks her into covering for her at a catering job. The minute April walked in the door, her curiosity gets the best of her and that curiosity introduced her to a world that would soon be a part of her.

The minute he laid eyes on her, there was only one thing that Dominic Prescott wanted and that was April Barnes. Hidden behind many secrets, the opportunity to get closer to her presented itself when he volunteered to teach an economics class that she was a student of.

Introducing her to his world wasn’t part of his plan. All it took was one taste and she would be forever his, or so he thought until the truth he had kept hidden away is revealed putting them both in danger.

Will she be able to accept his world or will she walk away and leave the only man she ever loved behind…

Excerpt

She wasn’t sure who this man was, but she was hypnotized by his charm. Never before had she submitted to a man based on his request. With shaky hands she began unbuttoning her shirt. The fact that he was watching her made her feel even more nervous. When her shirt fell to the floor, exposing her light pink demi bra, she looked up to him, aware that the half smile on his face was because he approved. Reaching behind her back, she found the zipper of her skirt and pulled it down. Pushing the material down her legs, she let it drop to the floor before she stepped out of it. With only her bra, matching panties, and black heeled shoes on, she stood in front of him waiting for what would happen next.

When he held his hand out to her, she lowered her honey brown eyes and placed her hand in his. He captured her hand and led her to the open panel. Just inside the hidden door, the mysterious man switched on a light that barely lit the narrow hallway. April tried to see where the hallway led, but it was too dark. Feeling the change in the temperature, she began rubbing her arms to get warm. It wasn’t just the lack of clothing that made her cold; the darkness and the thought of not knowing what was in store had her shivering. Taking in her surroundings, she felt something being draped over her shoulders. As she pulled it around her, she noticed that it was a dark blue velvet cape, just like the ones the guests had worn in the ballroom.

Turning to face the mysterious man, she was about to ask where he was taking her, but before she could get the words out, he stilled her in her spot and placed what felt like a mask over her eyes. As he began securing it behind her head, he spoke in a firm but velvety voice. “One of the requirements to enter the chamber is that you will be covered in velvet. Be assured your identity will never be revealed. Can you accept these rules?’

Nodding her head, she allowed him to finish securing the mask. When he gently placed his hands on her shoulders, she turned at his will. She raised her head to his until their eyes met. The look on his face, although mostly covered, told her everything she needed to know. Placing his hand on her chin, he tilted her head and lowered his lips to hers. His tongue swept gently across her parted lips, never dipping inside. Biting her full bottom lip, he ended the kiss and pulled away, leaving her unfulfilled and disappointed.

April tried to resume where he had left off, but was denied as he placed his finger across her mouth. “We need to go,” he ordered, taking hold of her hand.

Reaching the end of the dark hallway, there was a large wooden door with something written in Latin engraved in the wood. Having taken Greek and Latin in college, she translated the words as she read them, ‘Blood of one’s desire is the root of another’s pleasure.’ She wasn’t quite sure exactly what it meant, but just the thought of finding out had her mind reeling with excitement. April watched as he placed his hand on the handle. Getting ready to pull it open, he suddenly pulled his hand back. She was confused by his movement until he looked down at her and warned, “You are to remain by my side unless you are solicited. You will address me as Sir, and most importantly, you will do as I command. Do you understand?

About the Author

Award winning Author of the Independent Press Award and NYC Big Book Award.

My love for writing began several years ago after an early retirement from a demanding job that I loved, but also hated because it consumed so much of my time. Now, I am able to focus my time on what I love. Writing romance has been a life long dream and to actually say that I am a published author is beyond what I would have ever expected.

Even though some may say I have a little naughtiness in my books, I look at it as an added bonus for my readers. After all what is a romance book without a little spice.

When I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with friends either at home or out on the town. Mostly, I enjoy a relaxing night at home where I can enjoy a glass of wine in the company of a good book.
