lawyer and the founder of a New York-based hedge fund, he currently is a

architecture and development services for leading industry clients around the
world. He also offers radical financial
coaching on money, markets & investing through his Alpha360 trainings.

Bio: Charlie Shrem is a well-known
American entrepreneur and bitcoin advocate; he co-founded now-defunct start-up
company BitInstant and is also a founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation. He
is the host of the top-ranked crypto podcast, Untold Stories.

and I formally started an educational and advisory firm in 2017 called
Crypto.IQ to educate and introduce people to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Charlie now has one of the top bitcoin podcasts in the world and Mike is a
founding partner at Dekryption Labs, a blockchain architecture and development

Tell me more about your journey as an author, including the writing processes?
This
is my second book. My first book Confessions of a Wall Street Insider was a
bestseller and very personal account of what it was like to be at ground zero
of the largest insider trading investigation in history during the aftermath of
the Great Financial Crisis.
In 2008, Charlie and I watched the
financial system be taken to the brink of collapse by bankers and incompetent,
unaccountable central banks and regulators. Friends and family lost their
houses, their savings, and many were financially and emotionally destroyed all
because the current system was made to benefit the privileged few.
Bitcoin is a life raft, to a more sound
and secure monetary system. One for all people, not just the 1%.
Bitcoin offers a better alternative.
It is secure, private, and Censorship
resistant - no government or private entity can seize your bitcoin, or inflate
it away.
It's also a completely transparent
system of money based on indestructible code and math.
No smoke filled backrooms of Central
Bankers arbitrarily setting interest rates by looking in a crystal ball which
has never been right printing trillions to bail out their friends and
condemning the rest of us to runaway inflation and massive debts.

During
the crypto bull market of 2017, Charlie and I were disillusioned by how few
people were able to participate and take advantage of this revolutionary
financial asset called Bitcoin and crypto. It’s why we started our first
educational newsletter at Crypto.IQ to bring the masses into the sector and
give them the knowledge to understand the landscape and invest intelligently.
But
even with the newsletter, we saw all of our subscribers were men between the
ages of 21-30. Entire demographic populations were left on the sidelines
because they felt intimidated by all the jargon and technical complexity that
was being put out. We always wanted to
write a super basic book for beginners of any age and any level, from teenagers
to boomers who could grasp all of the underlying concepts in one place with one book. That’s what ‘Mastering the Basics’ is
all about.

Tell me about your Book (that you want to talk about) / Story (that you want to
highlight)
The underlying message of
the book is to focus on the “why”. So many people over the last 10 years have
just focused on how do we make the price go up? And because of that, the underlying
message of “why we got into blockchain technology?”, “why Bitcoin?”, “why
crypto?” has been completely lost in time.
So Mike and I decided to
put out the simplest, best explanation of WHY and HOW Bitcoin and crypto works,
and how all the pieces fit together. So when you spend the time, spend the day,
and go through our book, you’ll come out of it having a very deep understanding
of the landscape and you will be able to ask the right questions and act
intelligently after that.
The ability to bridge the current
knowledge gap for those who think they are 'too old' (or 'too young'). Teens and boomers....and start them on the
path to building and preserving wealth.
Absolutely ANYONE can understand and
profit from this. This is the greatest wealth building and preservation
opportunity in a generation. And we are in the early innings of this
transition/technology. Blackrock, the
largest asset manager in the world with $10 Trillion in assets, just announced this Fall that they're moving
into crypto and offering it to their clients, so it's definitely not too late
