In a time nearly ancient, before a brave Scottish princess defied her mother, a young woman has lost everything.
Except for her unexplainable talent for magic.
Now Magda's being hunted, and in her attempt to survive, loneliness and desperation take control.
Until she meets someone who offers her a chance at happiness, at normalcy, at the fullness of life. Then she discovers something wrong, so shockingly wrong with this hopeful future, and she must make a harrowing decision to ensure her survival.
And she will have to draw on all her magic to do it.
Actions have repercussions -- Magda knows this better than anyone else -- and with her magic, she will ensure everyone else learns that lesson as well.
What is the hardest part of writing your
books?
I’m a mom of five, a college professor,
and my health is not the best, so the sheer lack of time is the hardest part.
So many stories, so little time.
What are your most played songs?
I love “Running up that Hill” by Kate
Bush, and I listen to Hamilton and The Greatest Showman on repeat!
Do you have critique partners or beta
readers?
Yes, my hubby, who is also a writer, is
my top beta reader/critique partner. I bounce ideas off him and he reads most
of my books before they go to editing. I have adult children (this is a bit of
a family business) who also act as critique partners for me.
What book are you reading now?
Highland Defender by Kathryn LeVeque. I’m
just over halfway through it.
How did you start your writing career?
That is a bit of a funny question,
because I technically wrote my first book when I was nine. It was about my
little sister. Then in high school, I had two poems traditionally published in
an anthology. College and grad school was dedicated to academic writing, and I
have written literary articles and then homeschooling articles and curriculum
when I homeschooled my kids.
My first book, To Dance in the Glen, was
started at a pet project back in the 1990s. I finished it in the early 2000s
and sat on it. It was only in 2018, due to being passed over for tenure again
and out of spite, that I decided to take the indie publishing route, which led
to 60+ book between myself and my husband, our own publishing house, Sword and
Thistle, and to each of us having a book series being published by a separate
indie publisher as well!
Tell us about your next release.
My next release is a genre-switch – it is
a military romance (my hubby is a cop and former Marine, and I teach on a
Marine base, so I have lots of book fodder for that!).
Her Tempting Protector is book 3 of my
Tactical Protectors: Marines series.
