Introduce yourself and tell me about what you do.
I am a stay-at-home mom to Zoey (15) and Garrett (12). Wife to Korey, and furmomma to Oreo the Bernedoodle. I love to read, bake, travel, and be outside, while also cheering on my kids at their sporting events.
Tell me more about your journey as an author, including the writing processes.
I've always loved to write. I've written many short stories, poems and blogs. I love to type on my computer when I write. During my writing process, I write until I can finish my story, or at least complete my thought process. I'll put the draft away, and go do something else. If I need to complete a writing in certain amount of time, I will go for a walk to get the creative juices flowing. Later on, I'll come back to my writing with a fresh perspective, and I'll see what needs attention -- Did I finish the story? Do I need to wordsmith? Do I need to rewrite something? I'll continue to edit until I feel the story is where I want it to be.
Tell me about your Book
I was out getting coffee one morning in the summer of 2023, and while I was waiting for my light roast to brew, I was asking the baristas what kinds of animals they have seen in their coffee drive through. These three baristas were so excited to talk with me about this question, and they had so many unique animals to mention. When my coffee was ready, I thanked them for their time, and as I pulled away from the drive-thru, I knew this would be a good children's book. I started voice-texting myself as I was driving (hands-free, of course :) ), and when I got home, I collected my computer and my text messages and started writing furiously at the kitchen counter. My entire book, "Who's In the Drive Thru?" came pouring out of my fingers and onto the compuer screen in one sitting. I made a few small edits, but the book was born!
This is my first children's book, and it's about a barista named Jane, and all of the furry companions she meets in the drive-thru.
